Wiley's prestigioussocialscienceand humanities(SSH)portfolioislooking foradynamicand ambitious individualto join the team inthe role ofEditor-in-Chief, Education.Youwill use your background in educational research, your knowledge of the publishing landscape, and yourstrongcommunicationand global networking skills to drivethe strategic development ofone or more journals, raising the profile and visibility of thosejournal(s)in the community, and attracting new authors and content. TheEditor-in-Chiefwillalsobeinvolvedin the peer review process and decision-making ofsubmittedmanuscriptsand ensuring adoption of best practices and highest ethical standards in publishing.

How you will make an impact

  • Leverage your international networks and knowledge of educational research, with desk research skills, to drive high-quality submissions in key subject areas to the Education portfolio.
  • Strategically develop one or more journals,from scientific and publishing perspectives within the context of thebroader Education portfolio.
  • Establishandmaintainastrong global network of researchers and practitioners who arethejournals'authors,peerreviewersandboard members.
  • RepresentWileyandthe Education portfolioatconferencesandthroughin-personandvirtualoutreachactivities at universities and research institutes.
  • Oversee the editorialevaluation,peerreview, and decision makingfor submitted manuscripts.
  • Collaborate closely with external and internal editorial colleagues
  • Work withyourmanagerand colleaguestoestablishateamcultureoftrust,respectandhigh performance.

What we look for:

  • A PhD degreein educational research, with an excellent research background and a strong understanding ofrecent trendsand developments in a variety of educational contexts.
  • Manuscript handling experience (including pre-screening, peer review, final decision, appeals and integrity cases).
  • Demonstrated commissioning experience including identifying priority topics, approaching prospective authors, agreeing outlines/timelines, and guiding authors through to submission.
  • Strong global networks within research communities.
  • Excellent communication andrelationship-buildingskills with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative setting and achieve results through personal influence and engagement.
  • Flexible and innovative approach to problems and a focus on defining and achieving outcomes.
  • Outstandingorganizationalandtimemanagement skills with anexcellentcommand of the English language (both written and verbal).
  • A strong understandingofscientificpublishing, and desiretoadvocatefor innovations in publishing and openresearch.
  • Confidence to present and representthe Education portfolioat international conferences/ institute visits, nurture existing contacts and develop new networks
