Job description

Key responsibilities

Create and execute inspection programs on CMM machines (e.g., using software like , , or ) to measure parts. 

Inspect parts and materials for dimensional accuracy, comparing them against engineering drawings, customer specifications, and industry standards. 

Utilize various hand tools like calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other metrology equipment to perform inspections. 

Record inspection data, document any defects or deviations, and prepare inspection reports. 

Perform first-piece and in-process inspections, maintain lot integrity, and ensure First Article Inspection (FAI) packages are completed properly. 

Identify and report production problems, assist in correcting them, and communicate inspection results with supervisors and other personnel. 

Required skills and qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certifications are beneficial. 
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and  (GD&T) standards. 
  • Experience with CMM operation and programming software is often required. 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and computer skills. 
  • Proficiency with other measurement tools like calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.Â
