Job description

This role performs short cycle repetitive tests and / or inspections involving knowledge of product and use of standardized measuring specifications and / or test instructions. This role will examine parts and / or assemblies, rejecting units which do not meet specifications. To complete these tasks, calipers, magnifier, specialized test equipment and work form inspection documentation, including blueprints and written specifications will be used. An understanding of and adherence to proper documentation practices is required. This role will be measured against established standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Perform verification on incoming raw material, in-process manufacturing as well as finished goods.

·         Assist manufacturing engineering and R&D with validation testing/inspections.

·         Perform complete device inspection by measuring dimensions, such as length, diameter, and distance between reference points, using precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, comparators to ensure product(s) meets specifications.

·         Maintain record of inspections and prepare list of defects and interacts with other departments to ensure compliance with specification and to facilitate the acceptance of parts.

·         Reports quality problems or nonconformances to QA manager and follows up to ensure that corrective action(s) have taken / will take place.

·         Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications:

·         Must be able to read, write, and speak English language and be understood.

·         Must be able to visually compare work pieces against one another to assess / detect manufacturing variations in processes.

·         Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

·         Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Associate degree (2-year) or equivalent.

·         ASQ certified quality inspector.

·         Experience performing incoming material testing.

·         Experience performing complete device inspections, including measuring dimensions with multiple tools.

·         Experience with inspecting devices to support validations.

Physical / Mental Demands:

·         Working conditions are normal for an office environment.

·         Work may require weekend and evening work.

·         Work under stress in a fast-paced environment.

·         Must be alert, able to concentrate, and use good judgment.

·         Must be able to work under conditions that require sitting, standing, walking.

·         Must be able to sit or stand throughout most of a shift with occasional walking.

·         Repetitive bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, and lifting.
