Crestview Aerospace Overview

Crestview Aerospace is a manufacturing organization working closely with large aircraft and weapon systems OEMs, such as Boeing Defense, Bell, RTX/Collins Aerospace, Northrop Grumman and several others to deliver complex design-to-build and build-to print assemblies. Crestview Aerospace provides these assemblies in support of in-service platforms, such as: H-47, V-22, F-35, F-15, F-16, F-18, KC-135, E-2, and weapon systems such as Harpoon and SLAM-ER. Crestview Aerospace is comprised of two (2) manufacturing sites, with operations in St. Louis, Missouri and Crestview, FL, and employs approximately 300 professionals.

Description

The QC/In-process Inspector is responsible for ensuring the Quality compliance of machined components, fabricated sheet metal components, subassemblies and/or assemblies conform to Customer/Engineering/Model requirements by performing Visual and Dimensional inspections. The in-process inspector also generates and completes the required documentation reports in a timely manner.

Principal Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Dimensionally Inspect products using various measuring methods to include use of, calipers, radius gages, pin gages, micrometers, thread gages, feeler gages, scales, tooling media and mylars.
  • Visually Inspect to ensure no dents, dings, scratches, burrs exist that are beyond the acceptable limits per Customer and/or Internal procedures.
  • Prepare and/or complete required forms and inspection records pertaining to the verification and compliance of product.
  • Generate non-conformance reports when product does not meet Engineering requirements using MRP system.
  • Collaborate with other support groups such as Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, Production Control, Planning, Operations Team when needed to assist with finding solutions to quality issues and/or continuous improvement ideas.
  • Complete First Article Inspection documentation via Net-Inspect to ensure accuracy and compliance with Customer, Engineering and Quality standards/requirements.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized workspace.

Professional Requirements, Qualifications & Desired Competencies:

  • Experience within Aerospace manufacturing and assembly environment.
  • High School Diploma/GED with at least 2 years' experience preferred.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills within a team setting.
  • Strong technical skills and aptitude; able to use standard and advanced inspection tools and techniques
  • Works well independently and in a team environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of AS9100 Quality Management System and AS9102 First Article Inspection process.
  • Knowledge of Inspection Methods and Techniques, including GD&T application and interpretation
  • General knowledge of sheet metal fabrication techniques
  • Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, Mylars and ability to interrogate Model Based Definition (MBD) datasets.
  • Possess critical thinking, decision making, and problem-solving skills
  • Must have experience with MS Office applications.
  • Must be able to work overtime, including weekends when required.
  • Able to pass a yearly eye examination with corrected or uncorrected vision

Work Environment:

  • Primarily works in a manufacturing setting with exposure to machinery and production equipment.
  • Requires standing for extended periods and occasional lifting of materials.
  • May involve occasional travel to suppliers or other company locations.

Physical Requirements:

Primarily manufacturing/assembly environment. Must be able to work in the following environmental conditions: noise, vibration, proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current. Must be able to bend and reach. Must have close visual acuity such as viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading, visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines, and/or assembly or fabrication parts at close distance to the eyes. Must be able to communicate effectively. Must be able to maneuver up to 20 pounds. Will be performing substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
