Responsibilities
The Machine Parts Inspector I is responsible for performing detailed inspections on a wide variety of precision and complex in-process and finished machine parts, highly complex components, castings, forgings, fabricated sheet metal parts, and hardware that is produced in-house and/or supplied by vendors.
• Mechanical inspection of parts including first article, in-process, and final.
• Verification of materials and processes and verification of certifications from sub-tier vendors.
• Completion of all applicable paperwork (working to AS9100 standards).
• Performance of various other quality tasks as required to ensure the timely delivery of precision machined parts to the customer.
• Use of measurement tools such as calibers, micrometers, height gage, optical comparator
• Use of manual and programmable Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM) to obtain precision measurements.
• Cleanliness of the work area and proper handling of tools, equipment, and stock to prevent damage or loss.
• Assist in training other Machine Parts Inspector I
• Related work including calibration of inspection tools, and development and enforcement of quality systems procedures necessary to satisfy AS9100, military, and customer specifications
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Skills and Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 6 years mechanical inspection and/or machining experience.
  • Ability to perform complex set-ups for part inspection.
  • Must be proficient with complicated blueprints and advanced job shop mathematical calculations.
  • Familiar with all facets of inspection techniques, including manual CMM operation, a wide range of inspection and measuring tools, and surface plate set-ups.
  • Must be able to follow written instructions and to work with little to no supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills and familiarity with requirements of an AS9100 based quality management system.
  • Ensure that all required process operations have been performed on the product that is being inspected.
  • Document inspection results accurately and completely by completing forms, logs, and reports. Enters all quality data into the appropriate electronic or manual systems.
  • Thorough understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing per ANSI Y14.5.
  • Requires bending, reaching and lifting of objects within V2X EHSS guidelines.
  • US. Citizenship with the ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. Department of Defense secret security clearance.
  • Basic computer skills.
