Job description

Impulse Dynamics (USA), Inc. is a fast-growing medical device company that has pioneered a new form of therapy for heart failure called Cardiac Contractility Modulation, or CCM TM, which is delivered by the companyโ€™s Optimizerยฎ Smart System. CCM is a first-of-a-kind, proprietary, life-changing treatment alternative for a vast population of heart failure patients across the globe.
With global headquarters in Marlton, N.J., the company has additional offices in Frankfurt, Germany; Pearl River, N.Y.; and Willemstad, Curacao.
We are currently looking for a Sr Manager, Patient Access (remote/field based)
The Sr Manager, Patient Access and Experience Specialist is accountable for expediting the case submission process for prior authorizations in the PRIA Patient Access Program. This includes the data gathering and entry of relevant clinical information into the PRIA SalesForce.com portal, working in concert with clinical contacts at medical practices. It also includes following-up on processing of submissions and follow-ups for the PRIA case manager team. He/she will be tracked to multiple metrics, though most important of which is increasing the portion of total PRIA submissions that result in an Optimizer implant within 90 days from initial submission to the PRIA portal for authorization. The Patient Access and Experience Specialist will also assist in development of patient testimonials from patients who have received Optimizer implants. The Impulse Dynamics Marketing department will collaborate in the production of patient testimonials, which may be circulated in multiple media formats โ€“ print, video, social media, etc. There may also be instances such as Impulse Dynamics educational programs or academic congresses at which CCM patients will be involved. In those instances, the Patient Access and Experience Specialist would assist in coordination of such appearances.
Essential Functions (Including Regulatory Requirements):
The Patient Access and Experience Specialist will interact routinely with members or the Market Access, Marketing and commercial sales force at Impulse Dynamics, across the entire US. He/she will also routinely interact with the PRIA Patient Access Program team members, as well as the Impulse Dynamics and PRIA SalesForce.com portals.
The primary role for the Patient Access and Experience Specialist is two-fold:
First, this role demands supervision and facilitation for all Active cases in the PRIA portal. The Patient Access and Experience Specialist acts as a conduit between Impulse Dynamics Territory Mangers (TMs), Clinical Contacts at implanting practices and the PRIA team. He/she will expedite collection of data required for case submission, streamline communication with providers and shepherd cases through the authorization process. The Patient Access and Experience Specialist will participate in onboarding training of practices/clinical contacts, while also conducting periodic field visits (as needed) to practices, to assist with the process and/or convince them of its value.
Second, this role demands interaction with providers to identify candidates for patient testimonials for Cardiac Contractility Modulation therapy. Once patient candidates are identified, the Patient Access and Experience Specialist will work to arrange collection of testimonials via multiple formats, as noted above. While production of final materials for testimonials will not fall to the Patient Access and Experience Specialist, the person in this position should expect to give input and provide feedback on the production process.
Knowledge amp; Educational Requirements
This position requires a bachelorโ€™s degree, or 5 years of experience working in a medical practice, including dealing directly with the insurance authorization process.
Direct experience with patient care and participation in patient support groups are desired but not essential. Expectation is that 80% of time for this position will be dedicated to patient access, and 20% will be dedicated to patient experience.
Skills amp; Abilities
  • Operational competence with Office suite of products, especially Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Working knowledge of the prior authorization process for commercial insurance and Medicare Advantage products
  • Ability to understand, assess and influence work flows regarding the authorization process at practices prescribing CCM implants
  • Excellent organization and focus on details
  • Superior oral and written communication skills
Physical Demands/Work Environment
  • The role is remote based with 40-50% travel required throughout the US.
Annual Base Salary Range: $ 155,000 - $ 175,000
Full Coverage Medical Benefits โ€“ Employee + family contribution is 100% covered by Impulse Dynamics.
Paid Vacation, floating holidays, and sick time.
Paid Holidays
401k Match (up to 6%)
Annual bonus eligibility
Unless specifically indicated communicated otherwise in writing, all employees are โ€œat-willโ€ employees. The Company reserves the right to modify the aforementioned terms with appropriate notice and under no circumstance do the above described compensation and benefits constitute a promise to continue them for the duration of an employeeโ€™s employment.
