THE ROLE


Overview


Amphenol is seeking an experienced Import Compliance Manager to help support and strengthen its global import compliance program. This is a high-impact role for a practical, business-minded trade compliance professional who can partner effectively with business leaders across a global manufacturing organization.


The right candidate will bring strong knowledge of U.S. customs and import requirements, sound judgment, and the ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into clear, workable guidance

for the business. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building processes, solving problems, partnering cross-functionally, and helping a company manage risk while supporting efficient global operations.


While Amphenol is open to considering all highly qualified candidates, including fullโ€‘time remote, preference will be given to candidates who can work regularly from our Wallingford, CT headquarters.


Duties & Responsibilities

ยท Spearhead import compliance program initiatives by interpreting complex customs and import laws and regulations and assessing their applicability and impact on Amphenolโ€™s products, materials, components, and supply chain operations.

ยท Work with internal customers and customs brokers to support accurate tariff classification, country of origin determinations, customs valuation, recordkeeping, and admissibility analysis for imported products and materials.

ยท Become familiar with the companyโ€™s import compliance policy and amend it as necessary.

ยท Provide import compliance training for internal and external stakeholders.

ยท Conduct regular and periodic import compliance assessments and internal audits.

ยท Prepare internal and external correspondence, guidance, and compliance documentation; interact daily with employees, vendors, brokers, and government agencies domestically and internationally.

ยท Assist with identifying import compliance red flags and develop responses and recommendations for local businesses and senior management.

ยท Support duty optimization and special program eligibility analyses, including free trade agreements, duty drawback, temporary importation, and other customs-saving opportunities where applicable.

ยท Manage customs broker oversight processes and help ensure the accuracy and completeness of entry filings, post-entry corrections, and related customs submissions.

ยท Review import compliance language for inbound and outbound agreements and contracts as needed.

ยท Work with cross-functional teams, including supply chain, procurement, logistics, finance, tax, engineering, and operations, to review import compliance requirements for company products and transactions.

ยท Ensure compliance with all applicable U.S. government agency requirements relating to imports, including U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Partner Government Agency requirements as applicable.

ยท Assist with internal reviews, investigations, and corrective actions relating to import compliance issues, including classification, valuation, origin, marking, broker management, and recordkeeping.

ยท Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting import compliance and communicate practical guidance to relevant business stakeholders.


Requirements

ยท 5+ years of related customs, import compliance, and trade compliance experience.

ยท Self-motivated and willing to take initiative.

ยท Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

ยท Strong working knowledge of U.S. customs and import regulations, including tariff classification, customs valuation, country of origin, recordkeeping, customs audits, post-entry processes, and broker management.

ยท Familiarity with trade remedy considerations, including antidumping and countervailing duties, and with import-related sanctions or restricted party controls as relevant to inbound transactions.

ยท Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision.

ยท Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and project deadlines.

ยท Excellent verbal and written communication skills for a multi-cultural work environment.

ยท Bachelorโ€™s degree or higher.


Recommended Qualifications

ยท Licensed Customs Broker preferred.

ยท Experience in a manufacturing environment.

ยท Experience conducting internal import compliance investigations and audits.

ยท Experience working with customs brokers, automated trade systems, and ERP or trade management systems.

ยท Experience with free trade agreement qualification, origin analysis, and customs reconciliation or post-entry correction processes.
