Job description

Implementation Engineer
Location: Remote
Department: Service
Reports to: Field Implementation Manager
Direct Reports: None
Type: Full-Time
Status: Non-Exempt
Schedule: M-F (Variable)
Compensation: $30.76 - $36.53 per hour + Annual Performance Bonus
The Role
We're seeking an Implementation Engineer to be the hands-on face of IPA at customer sites, bringing our industry-leading scrub and linen automation solutions to life from delivery through go-live. This role owns the full onsite implementation - uncrating and positioning equipment, installing, networking, and powering up systems, and training clients to ensure they're set up for long-term success.
You'll travel to hospitals and healthcare facilities across the country, troubleshooting hardware, software, and networking issues in real time and serving as a trusted technical resource for both customers and internal teams. This is a highly visible role with daily, direct impact on the customers and partners who depend on IPA's technology - and it offers a genuine breadth of learning across hardware, software, electrical, mechanical, networking, and client-facing skills.
What You'll Do
  • Travel onsite to execute installations - uncrating, transporting, and positioning equipment, then connecting power and data, programming, networking, and powering up systems to complete the implementation.
  • Serve as the face of IPA onsite, introducing end users (nurses, physicians, administrators) to new equipment and processes and instilling confidence from day one.
  • Train clients on software, loading and unloading procedures, common issues, and basic troubleshooting so they're positioned for success after you leave.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware, software, firmware, and networking issues - both during implementations and on the highest-escalated service calls.
  • Maintain proficiency with wiring, soldering, hand tools, and test equipment such as multi-meters and oscilloscopes.
  • Support system administration tasks, including foundational Linux knowledge and Clearview software installation and configuration.
  • Execute preventative maintenance visits with an eye toward the long-term health of the client's overall program, not just the individual machine.
  • Communicate proactively and clearly - daily progress emails, timely escalations, and accurate case documentation in Salesforce - keeping the right people informed at the right time.
  • Manage your own travel and expenses efficiently and responsibly, balancing time, cost, and convenience while traveling approximately 80% of the time.
  • Anticipate common implementation challenges before they arise, and contribute lessons learned to help make future implementations easier for the whole team.
What You Bring
  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred; previous field technician experience is ideal.
  • A problem-solver who enjoys tackling complex and simple issues alike with enthusiasm.
  • A service-oriented mindset, comfortable working with everyone from entry-level staff to C-level stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills, with the flexibility to adapt your style to different audiences.
  • Familiarity troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and networking issues, with a genuine eagerness to keep learning.
  • Ability to travel at least 80% of the time and work independently from a home office.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 100 lbs. and perform regular pushing, pulling, stooping, bending, and lifting.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to maintain immunizations required for hospital site access.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office; experience with Salesforce is a plus but not required.
You'll Excel If You
  • Take ownership of projects and problems, collaborating with and inspiring others along the way.
  • Do great work under pressure and bring a genuine sense of urgency to fast-paced environments.
  • Are supportive and patient, yet confident, persistent, and authoritative when it counts - compassionate but tough.
  • See opportunity in challenges and stay mindful of the business outcomes behind every decision.
  • Do the right thing, not the easy thing, and hold yourself to a high standard of integrity.
What We Offer
  • The opportunity to be the visible, trusted face of IPA at hospitals and healthcare facilities nationwide.
  • A role with genuine breadth - hardware, software, electrical, mechanical, networking, and client training all in one job.
  • Direct partnership with Project Management, Sales, and Engineering to deliver a seamless customer experience.
  • Professional development and career growth, including a path to Implementation Engineer II with team training and supervision responsibilities.
  • Competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package.
  • A mission-driven culture where your work directly supports IPA's purpose of improving infection prevention and operational efficiency in healthcare.
Why Join IPA?
At IPA, you're not just joining a company - you're joining a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to improving infection prevention and operational efficiency in healthcare. We invest in our people with meaningful work, a collaborative environment, and benefits that support both your personal and professional success.
When you join IPA, you'll enjoy:
  • Generous paid time off and company holidays
  • Comprehensive healthcare coverage including medical, dental, vision, and Telemedicine
  • Health Savings Account (HSA) with company contributions, plus optional FSA plans
  • Company-paid life and disability insurance
  • 401(k) with company match to support your retirement goals
  • Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP) - own a piece of what you're building
  • Tuition reimbursement to support continued learning and development
  • Paid parental leave for when your family grows
