Job description

General Description:

The IT Project Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing large-scale technology initiatives across the organization, including software implementations and IT infrastructure projects. This role requires strong leadership, coordination, and communication skills to ensure successful project delivery.

The IT Project Manager works closely with various stakeholders including executive leadership, business subject matter experts, system, database, and network administrators, vendors, and IT development teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with the organization’s strategic goals.

This role requires a strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and hands-on project delivery experience using both Agile and Waterfall methodologies. Key responsibilities include leading and coordinating business analysis activities, developing, and managing functional requirements documentation, estimating software design and development efforts, and monitoring the quality and completeness of project deliverables.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Own full SDLC of assigned IT projects, from intake and planning through development, testing, deployment, support and closeout.
  • Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals, and deliverables; utilizes effective change control processes to capture and reflect deviation from approved deliverables.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans with dependencies identified.
  • Manage multiple concurrent high priority projects of varying size and complexity.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with customers, project participants and project stakeholders.
  • Manage project risks and issues, implementing mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
  • Act as an advocate for assigned projects, representing its interests throughout the enterprise.
  • Track project deliverables using appropriate tools.
  • Provide direction and support to project team.
  • Implement best practices in project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) to enhance project delivery and team performance.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by leading retrospective meetings and implementing feedback loops. Including project evaluations and assessments of results.
  • Proactive problem-solving mindset with a commitment to driving results.
  • Adaptability and resilience in the face of changing priorities and challenges.
  • Quality assurance.
  • Monitor and provide clear reports on progress of the project to all stakeholders.

Education and / or Experience:

  • Property and Casualty Insurance experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with ITIL frameworks and practices
  • Experience with Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies
  • Understanding of infrastructure technologies, including cloud computing, networking, and data center management
  • Knowledge of project management software, such as Jira & Confluence.
  • Proven experience in project management infrastructure initiatives such as data center migrations, cloud adoptions, security platform implementations, Networking, Identity or major system upgrades
  • Proven experience in software development initiatives such as Guidewire (or similar system), Portals and System integrations.
  • Proven experience in people management.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning.
  • Proven experience in risk management.
  • Proven experience in organizational change management.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Licenses and / or Certifications:

  • PMP Certification preferred
  • Scrum Master Certification preferred (CSM, PSM or SSM)
