If you're ready to be part of a company that's not just adapting to change, but driving it, AES is the place for you. We're not just building a more sustainable future, we're powering it. Apply now and energize your career with a true leader in global energy.
This role sits at the intersection of planning, coordination, and execution, supporting the VP of CAI directly while serving as the connective tissue across the CAI team: Stakeholder Relations, External Communications, and Impact. It is a high-exposure position that works with teams across the organization at both the corporate and business unit level.
The CAI Manager will work at the center of one of the most consequential moments in AES's history, as the company executes its Powering the Future strategy. They will help translate strategy into action, keep the global CAI team aligned and moving, support the VP in high-stakes moments, and represent AES externally at events and forums. To do this well, the CAI Manager needs to be equally sharp on substance, systems, and relationships.
This is an accelerated career experience for someone with the drive, judgment, and intellectual curiosity to make the most of it. The person in this seat will acquire a deep understanding of how a world-class corporate affairs function operates, a network that spans industries and geographies, and valuable knowledge on the intersection of energy, geopolitics, stakeholder strategy, and corporate transformation as a global energy company navigates one of the most consequential moments in its history.
Strategic Planning and Execution
- Support the VP in translating the Powering the Future strategy into actionable CAI priorities, working across the three director-led areas to ensure plans are clear, sequenced, and owned.
- Maintain and update the CAI strategy tracker, monitoring progress against milestones, flagging risks and interdependencies, and preparing regular status updates for the VP and the leadership team.
- Support the annual planning process for the CAI function, working with each director to ensure their area has a clear work plan aligned to the strategy, with cross-cutting priorities resourced, sequenced, and free of duplication.
- Support the VP in the planning and execution of high-stakes situations and crisis cases, coordinating inputs across the CAI team and other teams in the organization, tracking response actions in real time, and ensuring the VP has the information and materials needed to lead the response with speed and clarity.
VP Support
- Coordinate and prepare every VP engagement, from internal leadership reviews to external forums and high-stakes meetings, ensuring each is well prepared, well timed, and purposeful.
- Research and prepare briefing materials, talking points, and background for all senior meetings, external engagements, and leadership forums, working closely with the Directors of Stakeholder Relations, Communications, and Impact to ensure inputs are accurate, aligned, and reflect the full picture of the function.
- Track commitments, decisions, and action items from senior meetings, coordinate follow-through with the three directors and relevant cross-functional partners, and report on progress to the VP so nothing falls through the cracks.
- Coordinate the preparation of Board materials and COO updates, gathering inputs from across the three director-led areas and compiling them into cohesive executive summaries, performance reporting, and action tracking.
- Work closely with the Communications Director to develop and maintain a forward-looking editorial calendar that sequences the VP's external communications across channels, anticipates key moments and milestones, and ensures the VP's voice is present and purposeful throughout the year.
- Support VP expanding new relations and build AES's presence at high-value platforms by developing relationships with organizers, speakers, and key participants that extend beyond individual events.
CAI Team Support
- Lead the production of the CAI Quarterly Report, coordinating inputs from the three directors, ensuring content reflects progress against CAI goals and priorities, as well as preparing a final report that is clear, consistent, and ready for senior leadership review.
- Support the CAI leadership team's operating rhythm by preparing meeting agendas, capturing decisions, coordinating follow-through across the three directors, and flagging when accountability gaps emerge.
Special Projects and New Opportunities
- Support high-priority initiatives that cut across the CAI team or require broad organizational context and sound judgment.
- Support the VP in exploring new areas of opportunity for the CAI function: emerging stakeholder audiences, new engagement models, and areas where CAI can expand its contribution to AES's growth.
Best Practices and Lessons Learned
- Own the CAI Center of Excellence operations: shared tools, templates, resources, and the centralized contact and stakeholder database, ensuring everything is current, accessible, and actively used across all markets.
- Serve as the owner of the CAI SharePoint, ensuring all documents, materials, and institutional knowledge are organized, version-controlled, and easy to find for every member of the global team
- Manage the global engagement calendar (.ie. Milestone Tracker), cross-market learning forums, and the CAI SME network, ensuring best practices and knowledge move across markets efficiently.
