Job description

The Studio Arts Program at Loyola Marymount University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track teaching position in Interactive Design (supporting both Multimedia Arts and Visual Communication Design) beginning in Spring 2026.

The Clinical Assistant Professor of Interactive Design is a 1-year contract position with a potential for renewal. We seek a dynamic practitioner, scholar, and educator in interactive technology and digital media who can inspire and engage a diverse community of students across all levels of the curriculum, from foundation to senior courses, fostering both artistic excellence and critical thinking.


The qualified candidate should be proficient in design/digital media art practices with a focus on code-based arts, interaction and user experience design. They should have experience in project-based learning with a theoretical framework and be able to teach undergraduate courses in digital arts, UX design, web-based arts and creative coding. The preferred candidate has a hybrid academic/professional background with expertise in three or more of the following media/technology areas: user experience design, tangible media, data visualization, programming for emerging technologies, net art, mobile app development, immersive media, AI, net art. The applicant will provide evidence of successful college teaching experience and a record of scholarly/creative productivity. The candidate will submit a digital portfolio demonstrating their media production experience. The selected candidate will have a typical teaching load of 3 classes and meaningful service to the Multimedia Arts program. An MFA and 2 or more years of successful teaching experience are required at the time of hire. (Applicants should note that relocation/travel expenses will not be covered)
