Job description

IMEG is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer in Urbandale, Iowa, to lead design efforts for moderate to complex projects as a project manager or lead engineer. In this role, you will guide electrical systems analysis, design, and implementation oversight while partnering with engineers and consultants to deliver effective solutions and positive client outcomes. You'll also support project budget goals, contribute to training and mentoring efforts, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project objectives.
Principal Responsibilities
• Lead electrical system design efforts for moderate to complex building projects
• Perform engineering analysis, calculations, and detailed design documentation in accordance with code requirements and IMEG standards
• Conduct site assessments and prepare detailed technical analyses and reports
• Partner with clients to gather project requirements, communicate technical information, and build strong professional relationships
• Review electrical designs, calculations, specifications, and correspondence during production and apply IMEG quality control processes
• Provide technical support to help resolve field issues with limited support from senior staff
• Train, mentor, and motivate staff members
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, project managers, and other disciplines to deliver integrated project solutions
• Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices while contributing to research and innovation efforts
• Prioritize safety by identifying and mitigating risks associated with electrical systems
• Participate in project interviews and presentations
Required Qualifications and Skills
• Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, required
• Professional Engineer (PE) License required
• 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
• Adept in the technical aspects of one's discipline; advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles of circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems
• Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards and reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)
• Advanced proficiency of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS; Proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
• Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others
• Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
• Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
• Strong training and mentoring skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays
