Job description

IMEG is hiring a Civil Engineering Graduate Designer in Missoula, MT, to work closely with experienced engineers and consultants in delivering engineering solutions and advice that support positive client outcomes. In this role, you'll assist with engineering analysis, design, field inspections, report writing, permit applications, and site drainage and grading design while continuing to learn the civil engineering trade. You'll also work within project budgets and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.

Principal Responsibilities

Prepare designs for water and sewer systems for smaller private and larger municipal systems
Develop grading and stormwater designs for commercial, industrial, and residential site plans
Support surface modeling, water shed modeling, storm sewer design, and sanitary sewer design work
Interact with clients to gather project requirements and communicate technical information effectively
Build and maintain client relationships through professional communication
Work as part of a project team to support consulting project execution, planning, budgeting, and scheduling
Document design decisions, client instructions, and project progress
Analyze low to moderate complexity engineering tasks and help develop practical, efficient solutions with senior engineers and consultants
Participate in IMEG quality control processes to ensure designs meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards, and client requirements
Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, safety expectations, and applicable state and local design criteria while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams

Required Qualifications and Skills

Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required
1 year of experience minimum in the building design consulting industry required
Engineer in Training (EIT) license preferred
Proficient skills or knowledge with AutoCAD Civil 3Dsoftware and the ability to complete AutoCAD training sessions as quickly as possible
Developing proficiency of design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenge
Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
Ability to travel up to 5% with occasional overnight stays
