What are IMEs (Independent Medical Examiners)?

IMEs, or Independent Medical Examiners, are medical professionals who are hired to provide impartial medical assessments of individuals, usually in the context of legal or insurance claims. Their evaluations help determine the extent of an injury or disability and whether it is related to a specific incident or condition. IMEs do not establish a doctor-patient relationship and their findings are used to inform decisions on claims, benefits, or legal matters. Their role is essential in providing unbiased medical opinions.
