What you will do:
Ice Cream Operator 1 assists in the production of ice cream including but not limited to; palletizing ice cream cartons, making mix, operating machinery and inspecting product to ensure quality.
Here's a day in the life:
  • Assists in the production of ice cream including but not limited to the following job duties: Inspect product and Mix Making.
  • Equipment Operation and Monitoring: HACCP Metal Detector and Pasteurization Machinery.
  • Production line set-up and tear down and palletizing ice cream cartons,
  • Perform NAV and Wonderware data-entry.
  • Master Sanitation duties including cleaning, CIP and sanitizing procedures.
  • Follow flavor ingredient Bill of Materials and flavor ice cream base instructions.
  • Perform all other duties as needed.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and willingness to follow instructions.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables and/or ability to deal wit problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize and be able to work independently.
  • Must have the ability to read and comprehend simple, short documented instructions and memos.
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent from instructions.
  • Must be computer literate with basic knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook and be able to enter information into a specialized database. ERP systems knowledge such as NAV is desired.
  • Must be a team player and maintain effective relationships with co-workers and supervisors.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • High school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • 1 - 3 years related manufacturing experience/training; or equivalent combination of education or experience is preferred. Knowledge and experience with manufacturing sanitation practices also is preferred.
  • Pre-work physical exam is required. Must be able to work in freezer environment as low as -20 degrees on production floor or in a warehouse environment. Must be able to work with allergens i.e. nuts, eggs, milk, etc. Must be able to work various rotating shifts including weekends.

Working conditions:
Space can be crowded with manufacturing equipment. Must remain aware of other forklift traffic. Noisy; some areas can be dusty. May encounter extremes in temperature. Requires operation of forklift or other power equipment. Duties may include repetitive motion and lifting up to 60 pounds. Standing 70%, Walking 10%, Lifting 15%, and Climbing 5%
