Groundskeeper – Eugene Federal Building

Location: Eugene Federal Building, 211 E 7th Avenue, Eugene, OR 97401

Position Summary

TeamGOV is seeking a dependable, safety-focused Groundskeeper to support exterior grounds maintenance at the Eugene Federal Building in Eugene, Oregon. Published site work requirements for this location include turf care, planted-area maintenance, hedge trimming, leaf/blower work, exterior policing, fertilizing planted areas, hand watering, and weed control.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Maintain turf, flowerbeds, planters, planted areas, and exterior common areas through mowing, edging, raking, leaf/blower work, fertilizing, and general landscape care.

Trim hedges and shrubs, perform routine pruning, and help maintain safe clearances along entrances, sidewalks, and drive areas; coordinate specialized tree work with qualified personnel when required.

Mulch beds, cultivate soil, aerate ground areas, pull weeds, and support seasonal plantings or bedding-area maintenance as needed.

Perform exterior policing by removing gum, litter, paper, trash, and debris from lawns, planted areas, sidewalks, and fence lines, including morning rounds as assigned.

Support irrigation and watering by adjusting and cleaning sprinkler heads, monitoring coverage, hand watering when needed, and promptly reporting malfunctions or breakages.

Follow integrated pest management, runoff prevention, and environmentally responsible landscaping practices. Assist with seasonal exterior response, including snow and ice support, as assigned.

Safely operate landscape tools and equipment and communicate completed work, deficiencies, and site concerns to supervisors and site representatives.

Suggested Qualifications

1+ years of groundskeeping, landscaping, or exterior facility maintenance experience preferred

Experience with mowers, trimmers, hedge trimmers, blowers, and basic irrigation equipment

Ability to work independently and maintain consistent quality on a federal site

Strong attention to detail, reliability, and commitment to safe work practices

Professional communication skills and team mindset

Ability to meet site access, badging, and background requirements, as applicable

Suggested Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work outdoors for extended periods

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

Ability to work in varying weather conditions around active sidewalks, parking areas, and building entrances

Suggested Schedule Language

Typical building operating hours at the Eugene Federal Building are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; actual grounds schedules may vary by contract need and can include morning exterior policing and seasonal response work.
