Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This position assists with maintaining, controlling and monitoring all mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, etc. of the North Charleston Coliseum, Convention and Performing Arts Centers (the Facilities).
The main responsibility is to produce the best possible service and ice for our clients and patrons. It is also the responsibility of the Ice Technician/Maintenance to maintain and keep the ice resurfacers clean and in good operating condition while maintaining the highest level of quality in all aspects of ice making and rink maintenance. The Ice Technician/ Maintenance will work as Team Leader of the Ice Crew.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Carries out responsibilities in accordance with all Legends & ASM policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, addressing ice issues and resolving problems. Insure that proper safety precautions are used by yourself and the Ice Crew. Make sure that all daily, weekly and monthly checks are made on the Zamboni and that proper records are kept per the Zamboni manual. Inspect your assigned areas of responsibility for cleanliness after each event.
Qualifications
Demonstrated knowledge and experience of ice resurfacers driving, as well as its features and maintenance. Knowledge of various technical areas including carpentry, painting and cleaning. Technical knowledge of various tools and equipment needed to perform tasks in these areas.
Demonstrated knowledge of building maintenance functions and various technical areas including carpentry, electrical, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, painting and cleaning; technical knowledge of various tools and equipment needed to perform tasks in these areas. Previous experience in a similar facility environment and/or a technical degree in engineering or a vocational certificate preferred. Reasonable accommodations will be considered for those with disabilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Ability to speak, read and write English.
  • Ability to access all areas of the Facilities.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to perform physical labor and endure cold temperatures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HVAC systems and building maintenance functions.
  • Ability to Operate Zamboni and Ice Edger.

COMPENSATION: Hourly, commensurate with experience
