Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Brazer to join our production team. In this role, you will be responsible for brazing compressors into air conditioning units according to engineering specifications, safety standards, and production schedules. This position plays a key role in ensuring high-quality HVAC units leave our facility ready for installation and operation.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform brazing operations on copper tubing and compressor components in HVAC units using oxy-acetylene torches.
  • Follow blueprints, diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure proper assembly.
  • Inspect brazed joints for quality and strength using visual inspection and basic testing tools.
  • Ensure correct placement and secure fitting of compressors within the unit frame prior to brazing.
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper setup of brazing station and tools.
  • Identify and report any defects, non-conformities, or equipment malfunctions.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines, including use of PPE and proper handling of gases and heat sources.
  • Support production goals by meeting daily quotas and minimizing rework.
  • Collaborate with quality control and engineering teams to resolve production or quality issues.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1+ year of experience in brazing, soldering, or welding (HVAC or similar industry preferred).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Skilled in using hand tools, torches, and brazing equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.

Preferred:

  • Technical or vocational training in welding, brazing, or HVAC assembly.
  • Experience working with refrigerant lines and compressors.
  • Knowledge of nitrogen purging and pressure testing is a plus.

Physical Requirements:


  • Ability to stand for extended periods (8+ hours).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Exposure to moderate heat and fumes during brazing.
  • Use of hand and power tools with fine motor skills.
