Responsibilities
  • The Charge Capture Specialist is responsible for the clerical support of the perioperative service department by reviewing surgical
    procedures preparing patient charges and auditing records for accuracy
  • Reviews and enters clinical charges for perioperative service on a daily basis
  • Generates reports utilizing the Electronic Medical Record
  • Reviews reports generated by Cerner and corrects, edits and modifies charges as needed, assists providers with billing questions and provides feedback
  • Works with reimbursement billing personnel to identify missing charges
  • Coordinates with vendors, service line coordinators and billing as needed to ensure charges are appropriate
  • Promotes a positive work attitude and provide patient centered care
  • Develops a sense of team, initiates and participates in team development:
  • maintains professional growth and development through an ongoing process of formal and informal education
  • Communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, patients, families and healthcare team in person and via telephone
  • Accepts and completes all duties positively and without conflict
  • Cooperates, helps others and improves the performance of the unit
  • Completes all mandatory unit. educational and hospital requirement
  • Utilizes cost effective practices in performing all aspects of the job
  • Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements
  • Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
  • Regular and prompt attendance
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required
  • Related duties as assigned

Additional Information

Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.
