SYSTEM AUTOMATION Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)
OVERVIEW
We are seeking experienced System Automation SMEs to support the conversion of CA-OPS/MVS rules to IBM System Automation (SA). The role involves reviewing existing REXX code, converting it to IBM SA-compatible formats, testing, and implementing the code in production environments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Rule Conversion: Classify and analyze existing CA-OPS/MVS rules by type, assess for obsolescence, and convert rules to IBM SA policies.
  • Code Translation: Review and translate REXX code and CLIST programs to IBM SA-compatible formats.
  • Testing: Perform testing in TEST and PROD LPARs, including shutdown/startup of started tasks, application-associated rules, and Operations/PRDCNTL rules.
  • Cutover Support: Support the cutover process from TEST to PROD environments.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • SME-level knowledge of IBM System Automation (IBM SA) including monitoring, policy setup, and maintenance.
  • Programming Skills:
  • At least 7+ years of REXX coding and NetView PIPE programming
  • Strong proficiency in CLIST programming.
  • System Programming:
  • 7+ years of experience with system programming, including SYS1 dataset management and configuration.
  • Solid understanding of IPL shutdown/startup sequencing.
  • Software Integration:
  • Comprehensive understanding of software tasks and their interdependencies.
  • Previous Conversion Experience:
  • Proven expertise in automation conversions, particularly involving CA-OPS/MVS to IBM SA.
