Job description

Job Summary:
Accenture, through its Navisite division, is a leading digital transformation partner for global brands, focusing on managed services and cloud solutions. The role of IBM iSeries Solutions Architect involves designing modern solutions for IBM iSeries systems, engaging with clients to understand their needs, and leading technical discussions to craft scalable architectures.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the design, development, and solution architecture for IBM iSeries/AS400 managed services, application support, modernization pathways, and operations transformation during the presales cycle.
• Architect end‑to‑end delivery models covering operations, monitoring, HA/DR, patching, maintenance, batch orchestration, security, and integration workflows.
• Design modernization options such as APIs, microservices integration layers, database refactoring, and refactoring/replatforming strategies.
• Serve as the primary architectural voice in discussions with Operating Group leadership, sales executives, senior client buyers, and functional owners.
• Present iSeries solution approaches, performance models, risk assessments, delivery structures, and modernization roadmaps in a compelling and business‑aligned narrative.
• Drive the required Technology Delivery approvals—aligning scope, solution risks, assumptions, cost models, SLAs, and delivery feasibility with Operating Group leadership.
• Ensure all proposed solutions reflect established organizational standards, industry best practices, and client constraints.
• Work closely with sales teams, IBM iSeries SMEs, application architects, DBAs, and delivery leaders to validate scope and feasibility.
• Collaborate with delivery teams to ensure effective transition planning, resource estimation, and operational readiness.
• Promote the use of standardized solution components by coordinating with Legal, Commercial, and Corporate Development Transaction Services.
• Provide input on contractual terms, service definitions, SLAs, and operational commitments.
• Conduct deep‑dive assessments of customer IBM i environments, including OS versions, hardware configurations, DB2/400 structures, security models, and technical debt.
• Recommend operational improvements, automation opportunities, cost optimizations, and modernization pathways (API enablement, container adjacency, cloud integration).
• Partner with Technology leadership to identify the correct delivery Points of Contact.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Minimum 8 years in a technology environment with strong focus on managed services, outsourcing, or systems integration.
• Minimum 5 years in solution planning, deal shaping, presales engineering, or enterprise solution architecture.
• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on technical experience with IBM iSeries/AS400, including system administration, application operations, DB2/400 management, or integration.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (12 years of work experience). If Associate’s Degree: 6 years minimum relevant experience required.
Preferred:
• You have strong expertise in IBM iSeries components: OS/400, DB2/400, CL, RPG, BRMS, PowerHA, MIMIX, journaling, batch processing.
• You have experience in modernization techniques such as: API integration, microservices gateways, database modernization, workflow orchestration.
• You have knowledge of ITIL processes and how they align to IBM i operations.
• You have familiarity with scripting, automation, or orchestration tools related to IBM i environments.
• You have experience presenting technical solutions in presales or consulting roles.
• You have excellent communication skills, with ability to translate technical concepts into business value.
