Key Responsibilities
15+ years of hands-on enterprise infrastructure experience
Infrastructure Strategy & Architecture
Define and implement a standalone infrastructure architecture, including:
Compute

Lead current-state assessments of IBM i (iSeries) and AIX environments.
Design a future-state target architecture aligned with business and transformation goals.
Establish infrastructure standards, reference architectures, and best practices for IBM i and AIX platforms.
IBM i (iSeries) & AIX Technical Leadership
Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for:
IBM i (OS/400, IBM i, AS/400)
AIX operating systems
Architect, administer, and optimize:
IBM Power Systems
LPARs and HMC
Lead operating system:
Upgrades
Patching
Performance tuning
Design and support high-availability and disaster recovery configurations.
Provide technical leadership for complex system-level troubleshooting.
Disaster Recovery & Cloud Migration
Lead migration of Disaster Recovery environments for IBM i and AIX to IBM Cloud, including:
Architecture design (IaaS, Power Virtual Server)
Network connectivity and security models
Data replication, backup, and recovery strategies
Design and validate DR solutions that meet RTO and RPO requirements.
Plan and execute:
DR testing
Failover and failback procedures
IBM Cloud & Hybrid Integration
Architect workloads on IBM Cloud Power Virtual Server or equivalent IBM Cloud offerings.
Design secure hybrid architectures (on-premises and IBM Cloud), including:
VPN and Direct Link connectivity
Identity and access management
Monitoring and logging
Ensure alignment with enterprise security and regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
Technical Expertise
15+ years of hands-on experience with IBM i (iSeries / AS400) and AIX environments.
Strong experience with IBM Power Systems, including:
LPAR management
HMC
Proven experience migrating or implementing IBM i/AIX workloads on IBM Cloud (Power Virtual Server preferred).
Deep knowledge of:
Disaster Recovery architectures
Backup and replication solutions (e.g., MIMIX, PowerHA, or similar)
System performance tuning
Capacity planning
Architecture & Migration Experience
Demonstrated experience establishing greenfield or carved-out infrastructure independent of a parent organization.
Experience leading infrastructure separation or divestiture projects.
Strong understanding of:
Enterprise networking
Storage platforms
Security architecture
Soft Skills
Strong leadership and technical decision-making capabilities.
Excellent communication skills for both executive-level and technical audiences.
Ability to work independently in complex, transformation-driven environments.
