Your role in our success will be…

The Manager, NE FL Electric Operations, is a crucial leader responsible for overseeing the safe, reliable and efficient generation and distribution of electricity to customers which includes managing multiple teams, maintaining infrastructure, ensuring regulatory compliance and optimizing operations through technology and data analysis. This person will also be responsible for FPSC regulatory activities related to operations, NERC compliance and purchased power contract oversight.

What you’ll be working on…

  • Provides direction and coordination to the Eight Flags Generation and NE Florida Electric operations and maintenance functions with an emphasis on safety and efficiency.
  • Supervises management of generation operations and electric construction and maintenance operations while maintaining compliance with all federal, state, local and IBEW rules and regulations.
  • Provides direction for budgeting, expenditures, long term planning/forecast, staffing and allocating resources to meet operational demands and budget requirements.
  • Serves at the subject matter expert for all FPSC regulatory activities such as the Storm Protection Plan filings, Purchased Power Recovery annual filing, Annual Reliability Report, Electric Rate Proceeding filings and any other items that may occur including providing forecasts, written testimony, testifying at hearings and responding to interrogatory and data request.
  • Serve as the Oversight Manager for all FERC, NERC, SERC and FRCC activities including standards development, annual standards review (2), annual self-certification, data request, audits, etc.
  • Provides direction related to engineering specifications, material specifications, system planning, and coordination for the distribution, substation and transmission systems.
  • Serve as the lead for investigating any electrical incidents and accidents that may involve legal procedures which may involve investigation, testimony and deposition activities.
  • Ensures construction and maintenance activities adhere to purchasing requirements, use of appropriate account numbers, submission of appropriate documents all using the FERC Uniform System of Accounts
  • Assists AVP Operations and HR with all union matters including contract negotiations, grievance/arbitration resolution, administering the contract and coaching as needed.
  • Serves as Emergency Operations Manager during emergencies and system recovery to include being the liaison with the Southeastern Electric Exchange to access or provide mutual assistance if needed.
  • Negotiates and manages all purchased power and co-generation agreements to ensure competitive agreements.
  • Communicates with local governmental officials, monitor franchise status, build an excellent communication network and build trust.
  • Ensures equipment and facilities are in good working order to ensure safe operations.

Who you are...

  • Bachelor’s Degree electrical engineering or related technical or industry fields.
  • 10 years of progressive electric operations managing teams in transmission, distribution and substation operations.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License
  • Be actively engaged in community activities to represent the company within the community to include attending various meetings and serving on various boards.
  • Strong knowledge of Electric Operations
  • Knowledge of electric tariff and FPSC rules and regulations
  • Understanding of FERC, NERC, SERC and FRCC standards and requirements
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to make professional presentations in public to groups such as the FPSC, Florida House of Representative/Senate, City/County Governments, Town Hall/Community meetings.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proficient with computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Windows and other company applications such as SAP applications, Power Plan, Certify, etc.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including emergency response, serve “On-Call” as needed and working on special projects.
  • Ability to direct others and make safe and timely decisions.
  • Ability to attend public or community events after hours or on weekends
