Job description

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
  • Design and build AWS-based data platforms, including data lakes and analytics environments using services such as S3, Glue, Athena, Redshift, and Lake Formation.
  • Architect secure, cost-efficient cloud infrastructure using IAM, KMS, CloudWatch, and related services.
  • Implement data governance, security controls, and compliance frameworks consistent with appropriate requirements / standards.
  • Collaborate with analysts, developers, and project managers to support analytic workloads in Python, R, and SQL, and data-driven decision making.
  • Enable secure, automated delivery of curated data to BI and decision-making dashboards using modern DevSecOps practices.
  • Monitor system performance, automate scaling, and ensure high availability and resilience of the data environment.
  • Optimize data storage and query performance, balancing cost and efficiency across environments.
  • Support user access, permissions management, and data sharing models between internal and external collaborators.
  • Develop infrastructure-as-code templates and maintain documentation for deployment and configuration.
  • Provide technical mentorship to data and software engineering teams regarding AWS best practices and architecture patterns.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience designing and implementing data solutions in AWS.
• Proficiency in AWS services such as S3, Glue, Lambda, Redshift, CloudFormation, and IAM.
• Strong experience with SQL and at least one scripting language (Python preferred).
• Experience with data lakehouse design patterns, schema management, and ETL orchestration tools.
• Familiarity with DevSecOps principles and cloud security standards.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or within multidisciplinary teams.
• AWS Certified Data Analytics - Specialty, or AWS Certified Solutions Architect preferred.

Base Compensation Determination
Base Compensation is determined by market range and geographic location pay zones. Base Compensation also includes various individual factors unique to each candidate such as job level, prior experience, skill set, certification and educational which may impact the compensation structure.
