I-9 forms are official documents required by the U.S. government to verify the identity and employment authorization of individuals hired for employment in the United States. The form must be completed for every new hire, regardless of citizenship or nationality, within three days of starting work.

An I9 reference typically refers to a person who verifies employment eligibility during the hiring process, not a job position. If you are asking about a specific role called I9, whether it gets paid depends on the employer and the job's nature; most employment roles are paid, especially if they involve work or responsibilities. Clarifying the context can help determine if payment is involved.
