What is Hydrasearch?

Hydrasearch is a company that specializes in the design, manufacture, and distribution of fluid transfer and hose fittings for marine, military, and industrial applications. They provide a range of products such as hose assemblies, quick disconnect couplings, and fluid transfer systems, primarily serving the U.S. Navy and other branches of the military. What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a hydraulic technician?

To thrive as a Hydraulic Technician, you need a solid background in mechanical systems, hydraulics, and troubleshooting, often supported by a technical diploma or relevant certifications. Familiarity with hydraulic diagnostic tools, schematics, and maintenance software is typically required. Attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and effective communication are essential soft skills in this role. These qualifications ensure safe, efficient system operation and minimize equipment downtime.

What are some common challenges faced by Hydrasearch engineers when working with marine fluid transfer systems?

Hydrasearch engineers often encounter challenges such as maintaining system reliability in harsh marine environments, troubleshooting complex hydraulic or fluid transfer issues, and ensuring compliance with stringent safety and industry standards. Working on-site aboard vessels or in shipyards may require adaptability to varying work conditions and close collaboration with ship crews and other engineering teams. Effective communication and meticulous documentation are essential for successfully resolving technical problems and ensuring the longevity and efficiency of marine systems.

Pay Range: $17.00 - $20.00/Hour

Hydrasearch, a proud affiliate of The Dixon Group is looking for an Assembler to join our team in Stevensville, MD! In this role, you will be building a variety of critical components—including metal fittings, valves, couplings, and hose assemblies—for our customers, which include most of the major shipyards in the United States. You will work in a collaborative shop environment where daily tasks vary and cross-training is essential.

At Hydrasearch, we value the contributions of our Military Veterans and proudly employ our nation’s heroes. Veterans are strongly encouraged to apply.

What You'll Do:
  • Assemble company product lines (hoses, valves, and couplings) following standard operating procedures (SOPs), shop orders, and work instructions.
  • Safely operate power tools and machinery, including hand drills, grinders, drill presses, and hydraulic presses.
  • Grind rudders and other hardware for secondary machining operations. Use bead blast equipment to ensure finished goods meet high-quality standards. Mark parts using pin stampers, laser marking, etc.
  • Transport raw materials and finished goods throughout the facility using hand trucks, dollies, and shop carts.
  • Consistently and accurately complete job paperwork in the computer system to maintain part counts and traceability.
  • Participate in ongoing on-the-job training to achieve the cross-training needs of the department.

What We’re Looking For:
  • High School Diploma, GED, or Trade School equivalent required.
  • 1–2 years of prior assembly work (e.g., manufacturing, mechanical, or retail assembly) is preferred but not required.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude. Ability to do basic math, including computing ratios and percentages. Experience reading blueprints is a major plus!
  • Strong communication skills (ability to ask questions and listen actively).
  • Must be highly detail-oriented, enthusiastic, and willing to learn new skills. Capable of working with minimal instruction once proficient.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Work well within a fast-paced, collaborative shop environment.
Note: Steel-toe shoes are required on the shop floor.

What We Offer:
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance for you and your family
  • Competitive salary
  • Bonus programs
  • 401K retirement plan
  • Training opportunities
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • Paid vacation, PTO, and holidays
  • Gym reimbursements, and more!
