Job Description: The Quality Engineer role is designed to provide tactical support for ongoing logistics activities related to the storage and handling of medical and surgical products within the North America Distribution Center (DC) Network of Owens & Minor. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, overseeing DC quality assurance, managing the re-packaging, re-boxing, and labeling protocols, conducting investigations into quality-related issues, maintaining accountability for non-conforming products, and driving continuous improvement initiatives in the assigned DCs. The ideal candidate must be a critical thinker and be open to working in a fast-paced environment that emphasizes technical, tactical, and process improvement support. This role requires alignment with the goals and vision of senior leadership while supporting various business strategies and new product launches.

The anticipated salary for this position is $70,000 annually. The actual compensation offered may vary based on job-related factors such as experience, skills, education, and location. This position is onsite at the Owens & Minor distribution center in Morgantown, WV.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Manage self in accordance with the expected behaviors of the Leadership Qualities.

  • Provides support in solving challenging technical problems related to quality issues and technologies.

  • Provide support in the development and implementation of new quality concepts, tools and strategies to improve business practices.

  • Actively participate in the initiation and closure of corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs), Deviations, Change Controls, Document Management, and temperature monitoring.

  • Ensure controls of non-conforming products located at the assigned DCs.

  • Support new product launches for Owens & Minor.

  • Help todrivecontinuous improvement atthe assigned DCs byconductingProcedure/Process Flow Audits and Failure Mode/Gap Analysis.

  • Provide QA oversight for Owens & Minor in support of repackaging and labeling protocols, product containment, and investigations at the assigned DCs.

  • Meet all training requirements and effectiveness criteria.

  • Enhances department reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishingnew and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

  • Assist with the development, implementation and maintenance of Owens &Minor Distribution Quality Metrics.

  • Conduct employee training audits to ensure employees are trained and qualified on all assigned tasks.

  • Optimize key relationships with levels of management within OperationsQuality, Product Supply, and Distribution Network.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifying Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Engineering or a Science related field required

  • Three (3) or more of quality engineering experience in a manufacturing or logistics environment preferred

  • Microsoft Application experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required.

  • Any combination of education and experience to meet the above requirements will be considered

  • Extensive knowledge of quality engineering/quality control principles; basic knowledge of statistics preferred

  • Experience in a medical device manufacturing or logistics environment preferred

  • Medical Device experience, knowledge of 21 CFR Part 820, (ISO 13485 a plus) preferred

  • Basic understanding of Title 21 Code of Federal Regulations and other Federal and State regulations applicable to O&M's activities

  • Working knowledge of an electronic Quality Management System a plus

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Possesses effective oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills.

  • Basic analytical capabilities with demonstrated skill in evaluating reports, identifying issues, noting trends, and reporting to these observations to management

  • Must be able to analyze and define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions potentially with assistance from senior members of the team

  • Other duties as assigned
