Job description

Position Summary

To teach academic-based enrichment activities for a one-day on campus homeschool hybrid class that partners with families for a biblically immersive educational experience, centered at the home, yet supported by NCA's commitment to spiritual and academic excellence.

To provide oversight and supervision to home-schooling parents and to provide guidance and academic mentorship on curriculum planning, student academic progress, grading, and overall meeting of state requirements.

Essential Functions
  • Follow school procedures and policies in administrative and educational matters that are set by the Homeschool Hybrid Director, Head of School, and the School Board.
  • Responsible for planning and implementation of integrated academic enrichment instruction for homeschool hybrid students, as well as observations, and conferencing for each student.
  • Provide a sense of community for homeschool hybrid students while they are on campus.
  • Communicate learning goals and classroom activity information to parents regularly.
  • Keep lesson plans in easy access if a substitute is needed, and a required current substitute file of general information on schedule and seating arrangements.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with staff and parents.
  • Maintain an attractive environment conducive and related to the educational process, and the units and themes being taught, as well as orderly organization and maintenance of the classroom.
  • Responsible for classroom discipline and student management in keeping with the school discipline policy.
  • Submit weekly lesson plans to the Homeschool Hybrid Director.
  • Advise parents on private school & homeschool state regulations regarding subjects taught and hours of instruction.
  • Assist parents with quarterly progress reports, semester grades, and with maintaining an organized student portfolio.
  • Assist parents in setting up a pacing calendar and in planning for instruction for each core subject taught at home.
  • Assist parents in selecting personalized curricula that fit a child's specific learning style and academic needs.
  • Supervise students' academic progress.
  • Assist parents in mediating academic challenges.

Other Job Functions- Responsible for:

  • The safety and health of students in the classroom
  • Maintaining 8:30 to 3:00 pm on-campus hours for the on-campus day (Wednesday)
  • Attending applicable in-service meetings
  • Set-up of classroom prior to the opening of school as well as year-end clean-up of classroom
  • Timely planning of supply needs and requesting needs from Homeschool Hybrid Director
  • Conducting oneself in a professional and Christian manner, both in and out of the classroom
  • Fulfilling and maintaining all professional development training as required
  • Fulfilling other related duties as assigned by the Homeschool Hybrid Director
