Job Summary:
About the Role
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide customer service to Dining Services guests, primarily with replenishment of food and beverage items at food stations; preparation of food, such as sandwiches to order; cleaning; restocking clean dinnerware at stations; light custodial, as needed. Ensure safe and clean serving and dining areas, adhering to standards of sanitation and safety as established by local, county, state, and federal health officials.
What You'll Do
  • Support the mission and vision of Concordia College and demonstrate the competencies as defined for this position.
  • Assemble and replenish hot and cold food items at food stations, including salad bar, beverages, desserts, made to order sandwiches, salads, etc. Maintain adequate food levels during hours of operation.
  • Restock clean dinnerware at stations. Clean dining room tables and chairs; replenish napkins and condiments as needed. Light custodial in serving and dining areas, including floor care; trash and recycling removal.
  • Welcome customers and guests to the dining center and provide customer service to meet the needs and requests of our guests.
  • Restock and organize products in dry and cold storage per Dining Services inventory control system. Assist with taking inventory as assigned.
  • Assist in training and working with student employees, co-workers, and management in service to our customers. Assist with student employee recruitment and retention by promoting a positive, respectful, and supportive work environment. Support and adhere to Dining Services' Departmental Values.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. High school diploma or GED;
  2. Six months' successful related experience working directly with customers in a food service or retail setting;
  3. Basic employment skills: reading; oral and written communication; and basic math skills;
  4. ServSafe certificate or similar food safety course certificate or pass ServSafe exam within first three months of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Knowledge of food service equipment such as beverage dispensers, soft service ice cream machines, commercial dishwashers, condiment dispensers, coolers and freezers, etc.

  1. Customer service skills to work directly with guests, providing for their needs and requests in a timely and appropriate manner;
  2. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment;
  3. Ability to provide clear direction to student employees and work cooperatively and productively with other staff employees;
