Job description

Description:

People & Culture Coordinator

Position Type: Full-Time, Remote

Reports To: Director of People Systems & Payroll

About Unhitched

Unhitched is a hospitality-forward management and ownership group focused on transforming RV resorts, campgrounds, and outdoor destinations into memorable, high-performing properties. With a growing portfolio and a commitment to connection, we pair operational expertise with a team-first mentality to ensure every park we touch becomes a place people want to return to—and talk about.

At Unhitched, we believe great guest experiences start with great team member experiences. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for people who are excited to help build systems, support teams, and create a workplace where people can do their best work.

About the Role

The People & Culture Coordinator plays an important role in supporting the employee experience across the Unhitched portfolio. This position offers hands-on exposure to nearly every stage of the employee lifecycle, including recruiting, onboarding, payroll support, training, HR systems, employee communications, and organizational development.

This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, naturally curious, and excited to build a long-term career in Human Resources. Working closely with the Director of People Systems & Payroll, the People & Culture Coordinator will help create scalable people practices, support employees across multiple locations, and contribute to the continued growth of the organization.

This is not a role for someone who wants to stay in one lane. It’s an opportunity to learn, grow, and gain experience across a wide variety of HR disciplines while helping shape the future of a growing company.

Requirements:

Recruiting & Talent Acquisition

  • Support recruiting efforts by posting jobs, managing applicant tracking systems, and coordinating candidate communications.
  • Schedule and coordinate interviews while ensuring a positive candidate experience throughout the hiring process.
  • Monitor recruiting pipelines and assist hiring managers with talent acquisition activities.
  • Support workforce planning and recruiting initiatives as the company continues to grow.

Onboarding & Employee Experience

  • Coordinate onboarding activities for new hires across multiple locations.
  • Ensure employment documentation, HRIS setup, and new hire requirements are completed accurately and on time.
  • Help create welcoming and engaging onboarding experiences that set team members up for success.
  • Support employee engagement, communication, and recognition initiatives.

Payroll & People Operations

  • Assist with payroll preparation and payroll-related inquiries.
  • Maintain employee records and personnel documentation with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Support timekeeping processes, employee status changes, and payroll administration activities.
  • Help team members navigate payroll, benefits, and HR-related questions.

HR Systems, Compliance & Process Improvement

  • Support administration of Paylocity and other people-related technology platforms.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, files, and documentation.
  • Assist with reporting, audits, and compliance-related initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows, streamline processes, and increase operational efficiency.

Training & Development

  • Assist in the development and organization of training materials and learning resources.
  • Support leadership development and employee training initiatives.
  • Coordinate training assignments, tracking, and completion reporting.
  • Contribute ideas that help improve learning, communication, and knowledge sharing across the organization.

Employee Support & Organizational Development

  • Serve as a resource for employee questions and day-to-day people operations support.
  • Build positive relationships with team members and leaders throughout the organization.
  • Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and discretion when handling sensitive information.
  • Support policy development, handbook updates, process documentation, and other organizational initiatives.

What Makes This Role Unique

This role offers exposure to nearly every aspect of Human Resources within a growing organization. Rather than specializing in a single area, you’ll have the opportunity to gain experience in recruiting, onboarding, payroll, employee support, training, HR systems, compliance, and organizational development.

At Unhitched, we believe the best People & Culture professionals understand both the systems that support employees and the human side of the employee experience. You’ll work directly with leadership, contribute to meaningful projects, and help build the infrastructure that supports our growing team.

Metrics of Success

Recruiting processes are organized, responsive, and provide a positive candidate experience.

  • New hires are onboarded efficiently and prepared for success from day one.
  • Employee records, payroll data, and HR systems remain accurate and up to date.
  • Employee questions and requests are handled promptly and professionally.
  • Training programs and development initiatives are coordinated effectively and completed on schedule.
  • Policies, documentation, and compliance requirements are maintained accurately and consistently.
  • Internal processes become more efficient, scalable, and effective as the company grows.

Qualifications

Required

  • 1+ years of experience in Human Resources, Recruiting, Payroll, Administration, Operations, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.

Preferred

  • Experience with Paylocity or similar HRIS platforms.
  • Previous experience in hospitality, property management, retail, or multi-location operations.
  • Interest in building a long-term career in Human Resources or People Operations.
