HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The primary focus of this position is to assist the Human Resources Director with coordinating and implementing Human Resources programs and policies related to employment and training, benefits, compensation, employee relations, safety and health, and other employee services for the Agency.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES amp; RESPONSIBILITIES:
This listing is representative of the duties and responsibilities of the position, but is not to be construed as all inclusive:
  • Assist with day-to-day operations of the HR function and duties. Provide administrative support as needed while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Support the recruitment/hiring process by administering the organization’s Applicant Tracking System to:
a) Arrange for the posting and advertising of job vacancies.
b) Process and review employment applications to evaluate applicant qualifications or eligibility.
c) Conduct reference checks.
  • Work with hiring managers to schedule interviews and initiate the hiring process.
  • Ensure all pre-employment requirements are met, including criminal background, adult and child abuse registry, driving record, occupational physical, drug test, I-9 employment verification, etc.
  • Support job fairs and other recruitment efforts; assist with employee events such as new employee orientation, lunches, annual picnics, etc.
  • Assist with employee benefits administration by becoming aware of the organization’s benefits plans; answer employee questions, assess and track employee eligibility, and assist employees with enrollment in Employee Navigator.
  • Support ongoing safety and personnel training using the organization’s Learning Management System or supporting in-person learning.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining personnel files; process, verify, and maintain personnel-related documentation, including staffing, training, grievances, performance evaluations, classifications, and employee leave of absence and records in a timely and neat manner.
  • Compile and prepare reports and documents pertaining to personnel activities weekly, monthly, or as needed.
  • Maintain positive employee relations; interpret and administer personnel policies, practices, and procedures consistently; counsel employees as needed; maintain effective communication.
  • Provide relief to the front desk as needed or deemed necessary.
  • Contribute to team effort by performing other related duties as assigned or required by the Human Resources Director or Chief Operating Officer.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum requirements for this position are:
  1. A degree in Human Resources or a related field and at least two years of hands-on Human Resources experience.
  2. Knowledge of the functions and resources of Human Resources and related laws and regulations.
  3. Experience with Microsoft Office products and/or HRIS systems.
  4. Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing; Ability to travel to Agency locations. Must maintain defensive driving certification to operate Agency vehicles.
  5. Ability to conduct interviews of a sensitive nature and maintain confidentiality.
  6. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  7. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  8. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers/ clients, Agency employees, or service providers. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to clients and their families.
REPORTING: This position reports to the Human Resources Director.
PRIMARY WORK LOCATION: Most duties and functions will be performed in an office environment although local travel to other CHEER locations is required to support programs and services.
WORK HOURS: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM with 30 minute mid-day break. Extended work hours are periodically required to support programs and activities. Must be able to work occasional evening and weekend hours.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-Time, Non-Exempt (40 hrs./week)
BENEFIT ELIGIBILITY: Regular full-time eligibility includes subsidized employee health insurance and a free primary healthcare program. 403(b) Retirement Plan with company match. Paid time off (PTO), based on hours worked and years of service. 11 paid holidays. Optional coverage available: dental, vision, AFLAC insurance, short-term disability insurance, and legal shield insurance at cost.
