Job Summary:

Under direct supervision, as a Student Assistant in the Human Resources Division's Administrative Services team at CSUSB, you will gain hands on experience supporting essential Human Resources operations while developing valuable professional and administrative skills. You will assist with employee records, data entry, document processing, scheduling, customer service, and other departmental projects. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented, dependable, and motivated student who enjoys helping others, staying organized, and contributing to a professional team.

Preference will be given to those in a Human Resources field of study.

Responsibilities:

Under direct supervision, duties include but not limited to:
- Assist with filing, organizing, digitizing, and maintaining confidential personnel and administrative records in accordance with university policies and records-retention requirements.
- Support HR administrative processes, including data entry, document verification, employee file audits, correspondence, case files, and tracking logs.
- Assist with onboarding, recruitment, training, orientations, and scheduling interviews, meetings, and appointments as needed.
- Provide professional customer service by answering phones, responding to emails and inquiries, greeting guests, and directing requests to appropriate HR service areas.
- Assist Employee & Labor Relations, Institutional Equity & Compliance, and the Vice President's Office with confidential and time-sensitive administrative matters as needed.
- Support HR programming, outreach, annual projects, special projects, and university events.
- Prepare and organize basic reports, spreadsheets, forms, presentations, brochures, flyers, and other informational materials.
- Assist with office operations, including meeting coordination, room reservations, catering, parking requests, deliveries, scanning, copying, and maintaining an organized workspace.
- Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information involving students, faculty, staff, complaints, grievances, and personnel matters.
- Complete required compliance training by established deadlines and perform other duties within the Student Assistant classification as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
  • Special Qualification: Admission or registration as a CSU student.

Required Qualifications:

  • Maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or greater per semester and cumulative.
  • Students must be enrolled in at least halftime units at CSUSB (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate)
  • International students must have full-time enrollment at CSUSB. (12 units undergraduate; 6 units graduate)
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Payroll Requirement: Social Security Card

Compensation and Benefits:

Student Employment Anticipated Hiring Range: $16.90 per hour.

The compensation offered will consider internal equity and experience among other factors.

Position Information:

Work status: Part-Time, Temporary, Seasonal

Academic year available hours: Monday through Friday (8:00 am - 5:00 pm).

Summer available hours: Monday through Thursday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm).

Conditions of Employment

Background Check
Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) may be required for student employment purposes. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information.  Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check when required may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Driver's License Check
Possession of a valid Driver's License may be required.  Employees in this position will be enrolled in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Government Employer Pull Notice Program which confirms possession of a valid driver's license and reflects driving record.
