Job Description

The Michigan Civil Service Commission is looking for a motivated individual who is organized, has excellent communication skills, and is interested in working in a fast-paced Human Resources environment. This position will serve as a Student Assistant providing a range of administrative support activities serving the Department of Corrections.

Required Education and Experience

This position generally requires current enrollment in high school, vocational or technical school, or post-secondary educational institution. Specific information on the education and experience required for different class levels is in the job specifications of the Student Assistant class (https://www.michigan.gov/mdcs/-/media/Project/Websites/mdcs/JOBSPECS/S/StudentAssistant.pdf) .

Additional Requirements and Information

Student Assistant positions cannot exceed 129 working hours in a calendar month and must be enrolled in at least six credit hours per term, providing proof of enrollment at the start of each term. Student Assistant appointments end the month in which the student graduates or is no longer enrolled in school. A Student Assistant position cannot exceed six years unless otherwise approved by Human Resources.
