Job description

Lead enterprise-wide safety transformation with impact that goes beyond compliance. ERM is seeking a Principal Consultant, Safety Transformation to join our team in Rochester, NY (Or other locations).

In this role, you will lead the design and delivery of enterprise-wide transformations that protect people, strengthen culture, and drive measurable business outcomes. You will manage transformational Health & Safety projects, interface with client stakeholders on strategy and oversight, ensure work is scoped and priced accurately, and deliver high-quality results aligned to scope, schedule, and budget-while generating meaningful impact. This role is ideal for someone who brings strong project leadership and deep expertise in Serious Injury & Fatality (SIF) prevention, human performance, safety culture transformation, and enterprise risk management, helping clients achieve step-change improvements in safety performance.

What You’ll Bring
  • Required Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • 6-8 years (10-15+ years preferred) of progressive EHS experience, including significant time in industry leadership roles or consulting environments
  • Demonstrated success leading large-scale EHS or safety culture transformations
  • Deep expertise in:
    • Serious Injury & Fatality (SIF) prevention and critical risk management
    • Human performance principles and application
    • Safety governance, culture, and leadership
  • Preferred Experience working across multiple industries such as manufacturing, technology, biopharma, power, or mining
  • Proven ability to influence and engage executive-level stakeholders
  • Strong background in consulting, including project scoping, pricing, and business development
  • Experience developing executive-level deliverables such as strategy documents and board presentations
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and delivery of EHS transformation programs, including SIF prevention, human performance, and culture change initiatives
  • Conduct and oversee enterprise assessments, audits, and maturity diagnostics, translating insights into actionable roadmaps
  • Facilitate executive workshops, leadership engagements, and field-based coaching to embed sustainable change
  • Manage complex projects across industries and EHS disciplines, ensuring delivery excellence across scope, schedule, and budget
  • Support scoping and pricing of projects aligned with client challenges and ERM standards
  • Develop executive-level deliverables, including strategy documents, transformation roadmaps, and board-ready presentations
  • Build strong client relationships and act as a trusted advisor at all organizational levels
  • Support and lead business development activities, including opportunity identification, proposal development, and client presentations
  • Collaborate across ERM's global network to deliver integrated solutions
  • Drive innovation by advancing ERM methodologies in SIF, human performance, and safety culture transformation

For the Principal Consultant, Safety Transformation position, the anticipated annual base pay is $138,400-170,600 (CAD). Actual pay will depend on factors such as education, experience, skills, location, performance, and business needs. In some cases, pay may fall outside this range. This role may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are not bonus eligible).
