This is an adjunct faculty pool for teaching in the Social Science and Human Services department. The pool will remain open until June 2026 unless positions are no longer needed. Applications will be reviewed and candidates will be contacted and interviewed as positions become available. Are you passionate about Human Services and Addiction Studies? Can you create and maintain a dynamic and interactive learning environment? Consider joining the Social Science and Human Services Department at Rogue Community College, where we value engaging teaching methods that inspire and involve students. We are currently seeking a part-time Human Services Instructor to cultivate a supportive an inclusive learning environment for students from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and academic backgrounds. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about collaborating to enhance student success, creating interactive learning experiences, and fostering a supportive learning environment that inspires students' critical thinking.
Instructor is responsible for the planning and implementation of various Human Services courses. Instructor is required to create a course syllabus, instruct students in the subject matter in accordance with that syllabus, maintain attendance records, assess student progress and evaluate course work for a letter grade. Instructor will maintain college standards in all aspects of professionalism, record keeping and instruction within the team atmosphere of the social science department of Rogue Community College.
Supervision Received
The dean, in consultation with the department chair is responsible for carrying out the evaluation of instructors under procedures developed by the vice president. The dean confers with the department chair in decisions regarding instructor workload, professional growth, retention, and department staffing levels.
Examples of Duties - Essential Functions
    1. Instructs students in a classroom, lab, learning center, or other setting as appropriate using active learning approaches that both engage and facilitate student learning.
    2. Prepares, distributes, and utilizes instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media, and other devices as appropriate.
    3. Develops, communicates, and utilizes a student assessment process and instruments which are related to the stated objectives of the course.
    4. Adapt learning procedures to the online/distance learning environment, including web-based delivery, ensuring comparable quality of instruction, student-teacher interaction, and assessment with classroom-based courses.
    5. May participate as a team member in departmental meetings and planning activities.
    6. Communicate effectively with a wide variety of students and college staff.
    7. Responsible for departmental equipment and provides for the security of facilities and instructional materials as appropriate to the department.
    8. Participates in curriculum planning and development and outcomes and assessment activities as needed.
    9. Organize the learning experience for the maximum benefit of traditional and non-traditional learners.
    10. Maintain regular and responsive communication with students, the department, and the college.
    11. Strive to enhance teaching and learning techniques.
    12. Pursue professional development to stay current in the field of Human Services and utilize best practices for teaching and learning.
    13. Understand and commit to the community college vision and mission.
    14. Performs other duties as assigned.

Screening Criteria
Education: A Master's Degree in human services, social work, psychology, or a related field.
Only degrees received from an accredited institution will be accepted: accreditation must be recognized by the office of degree authorization, US Department of Education, as required by ORS 348.609. Final candidate will be required to provide official transcripts for required degree.
Ability to: Communicate effectively, inclusively, interactively, engagingly, and respectfully with diverse students, staff, and community members; demonstrate experience or potential for innovation and creativity in both the classroom and in online; demonstrate a commitment to professional standards and growth. Pass a criminal background check.
Knowledge of: Current trends in human services subjects being taught. Computer applications for communication and learning, including, but not limited to, word processing, the Internet, multi-media presentations, spreadsheets and database management. Curriculum development; the community colleges' mission, role in higher education, and student population; and best practices for culturally responsive teaching.

Experience: Successful teaching experience in a higher education setting. Clinical setting experience.
Licenses:For assignments requiring operation of a motor vehicle, possession of a valid Oregon Driver's License and proof of an acceptable driving record are required. New employees establishing resident status in the State of Oregon must obtain an Oregon driver's license within 30 days (ORS 807.020 (1)).
Physical Demands: The physical demands listed below represent those that must be met by an incumbent to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with qualified disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Manual dexterity and coordination are required for less than half of the daily work period (about 40%) which is spent sitting while operating office equipment such as computers, keyboards, 10-key, telephones, and other standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach, bend, kneel, stoop, twist, crouch, climb, balance, see, talk, hear, and manipulate objects. The position requires some mobility including the ability to move materials less than 5 pounds daily, 5-25 pounds occasionally, and 25-60 pounds rarely. This position requires both verbal and written communication abilities.
