Job description

The HSE Officer is responsible for executing day-to-day HSE activities and supporting site operations under the direction of the HSE Manager. The candidate will cover the 1st and 2nd shifts to positively engage employees and help drive safety culture maturity across assigned shifts. Candidate must possess strong verbal and written skills. Candidate to support effective implementation of the global and regional HSE management system across the site value chain. Selected candidate will routinely work with shift Supervisors, Line Leaders, and Maintenance Technicians. The candidate will be responsible for conducting HSE Orientation training, HSE Qualification training for operations, qualification training for powered industrial truck operation, and help track completion of required compliance training, including annual Safety Week.

Responsibilities

  • Shop Floor Safety Leadership:

    Support daily HSE activities by maintaining a visible presence on the manufacturing floor, engaging employees, reinforcing safe work practices, and addressing at-risk behaviors.

  • Employee Coaching & Compliance Support:

    Partner with supervisors, line leaders, and maintenance teams to provide HSE coaching, promote accountability, and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

  • HSE Program Implementation & Continuous Improvement:

    Assist with the deployment and enhancement of HSE programs, systems, and initiatives focused on reducing risk, preventing injuries, and improving overall site performance.

  • Auditing, Inspections & Regulatory Reporting:

    Conduct safety and environmental audits, inspections, and field verifications; identify gaps, support corrective actions, and assist with required OSHA, EPA, and internal reporting.

  • Incident Management & Emergency Response:

    Support incident and near-miss investigations, OSHA recordkeeping, injury claim administration, and provide First Aid/CPR/AED response as needed.

  • Environmental & Occupational Health Compliance:

    Assist with environmental inspections, permitting activities, hazard identification, chemical safety, industrial hygiene initiatives, data collection, and regulatory compliance efforts.

**Qualifications **

  • Bilingual in Spanish

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, Business, or a related field preferred.

  • 3–7 years of HSE/EHS experience in a manufacturing environment with expertise in audits, inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations.

  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and applicable regulatory requirements; familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards preferred.

  • Strong communication, training, and relationship-building skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Workday, SharePoint, Enablon, or other HSE management systems preferred.
