Job Description:

Unity Health Care is seeking a mission-driven Physician to join our team providing high-quality, patient-centered care at the DC Department of Corrections (DOC). This is a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on justice-involved individuals while working in a multidisciplinary and supportive healthcare environment.

Unity is a Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) approved site, making this position eligible for HRSA and National Health Service Corps (NHSC) loan repayment programs.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver primary and urgent medical care within the correctional setting
  • Perform physical exams, chronic disease management, and preventive care
  • Collaborate with nursing, mental health, and dental professionals
  • Accurately document all clinical encounters in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Participate in quality improvement and performance evaluation activities


Qualifications:

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school
  • Board Certified/Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
  • Active DC medical license (or ability to obtain)
  • DEA license and DC Controlled Substance Registration
  • Prior experience in correctional health or with underserved populations preferred
  • Strong commitment to public health and health equity
