Job description

Job Description: Payroll & HRIS Specialist Position Summary

The Payroll & HRIS Specialist is responsible for managing and optimizing all payroll and human resources information system functions using ADP. This role ensures accurate payroll processing, maintains employee data integrity, supports HR operations, and serves as the internal subject‑matter expert for Paylocity modules including Payroll, Time & Attendance, Benefits, and HRIS workflows.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process bi‑weekly or weekly payroll through ADP, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely submission

  • Maintain employee records, job changes, compensation updates, and organizational structure within the HRIS

  • Manage Paylocity modules including Payroll, Time & Attendance, Web Time, Benefits, Onboarding, and Performance

  • Audit timecards, PTO balances, punches, and schedules; resolve discrepancies with supervisors

  • Administer benefits enrollment, eligibility tracking, and carrier connections through Paylocity

  • Generate payroll reports, labor distribution, and compliance documentation (ACA, EEO, FMLA, etc.)

  • Support HR with onboarding, offboarding, employee changes, and workflow automation

  • Provide training and support to managers and employees on Paylocity tools and self‑service features

  • Collaborate with Finance and HR leadership to improve processes and ensure data accuracy

  • Maintain compliance with federal and Indiana state payroll laws, tax regulations, and reporting requirements

Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years of payroll or HRIS experience, preferably with ADP

  • Strong understanding of payroll regulations, tax withholding, overtime rules, and wage laws

  • Experience with HRIS data management, reporting, and workflow configuration

  • High attention to detail and strong analytical skills

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information

  • Proficiency in Excel and payroll reporting tools

  • Excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Paylocity’s advanced modules (Data Insights, Performance, Learning, Benefits Admin)
