What is HRIS implementation?

HRIS implementation refers to the process of installing, configuring, and launching a Human Resources Information System (HRIS) within an organization. This process typically includes assessing organizational needs, selecting the appropriate HRIS software, migrating data, integrating with other business systems, and training staff on the new platform. Successful HRIS implementation helps streamline HR processes such as payroll, benefits administration, and employee data management, improving overall efficiency and compliance.

What are some common challenges faced during an HRIS implementation, and how can they be managed effectively?

One common challenge during an HRIS implementation is data migration, as ensuring accurate and complete transfer of existing HR data to the new system can be complex. Additionally, adapting workflows to fit the new system often requires close collaboration with HR, IT, and department leaders to ensure alignment with business processes. Effective communication, thorough training, and phased rollouts help manage user adoption and minimize disruptions. Being proactive about troubleshooting and involving key stakeholders early on can significantly improve the success of an HRIS implementation.

The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on HRIS expertise, advanced Excel capabilities, and the ability to work closely with a collaborative team to keep projects moving efficiently.
Responsibilities:
• Lead day-to-day HRIS support activities tied to an active Paylocity implementation and help maintain momentum toward the planned go-live timeline.
• Manage work across current and future HR systems during the implementation period, ensuring data accuracy and continuity of operations.
• Coordinate testing, training preparation, and follow-up tasks so stakeholders have the information and resources needed to stay on schedule.
• Assist with data validation, file preparation, and system updates, including moving information between platforms using strong Excel skills.
• Partner with internal team members and external module contacts to resolve issues, track open items, and support implementation progress.
• Produce and maintain HRIS reports as needed, with flexibility to expand reporting support over time.
• Monitor system details closely, troubleshoot operational issues, and handle hands-on administrative tasks with a high level of accuracy.
• Transition into broader ongoing HRIS administration and reporting responsibilities after implementation activities are completed.• 7+ years of experience in HRIS analysis, HRIS administration, or related HR systems roles.
• Prior experience supporting HRIS implementations, preferably in environments involving Paylocity.
• Strong working knowledge of HRIS platforms, databases, and system processes.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to organize, manipulate, and transfer data accurately.
• Experience creating, maintaining, or supporting HR and workforce reports.
• Ability to work effectively in detailed, execution-focused environments and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams while also handling hands-on system tasks independently.
• Experience with Paylocity is preferred; familiarity with UKG Pro is also beneficial.
