Job description

Job Summary:
The Training Specialist is responsible for managing and overseeing all training initiatives within the organization to ensure compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements. This role develops and delivers competency-based training programs for staff, coordinates new hire orientations, and oversees training compliance in alignment with best practices in behavioral health and intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
Key Responsibilities:
Training Oversight & Coordination: Plan, develop, and implement training programs for staff, including new hire orientation and ongoing professional development.
LMS Management: Manage the Learning Management System (LMS), develop multimodal training (live, hands-on, webinars, online), and analyze reports to improve staff competency and program outcomes.
Compliance & Reporting: Monitor and report on training compliance, ensuring adherence to Title 17, Title 22, and other regulatory requirements.
Curriculum Development: Create and update training materials based on best practices in behavioral health, IDD, co-occurring disorders, and person-centered approaches.
Certification & Recertification: Coordinate and facilitate required trainings, including CPR, Professional Crisis Management (PCM), and Ukeru training for initial hire and recertifications.
Regulatory Adherence: Ensure all staff and consultants meet required training and certification standards.
New Hire Orientation: Organize and facilitate comprehensive orientation sessions for all new employees.
Quality Assurance: Conduct audits and assessments to identify training gaps and improve program effectiveness.
Interdepartmental Collaboration: Work closely with HR, program directors, and external partners to ensure seamless training delivery.
Additional Duties:
Perform other duties as assigned by management to support the program's goals.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in counseling, psychology, human services, or a related field preferred (relevant coursework and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).
Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with individuals with co-occurring mental illness and intellectual disabilities in a residential setting.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations governing service delivery.
Ability to develop and deliver engaging and effective training programs.
Certification in Professional Crisis Management (PCM), Ukeru, First Aid, and CPR (including hands-on instruction) required prior to working with clients.
Certifications Required Within 6 Months of Employment: First Aid/CPR Trainer,PCMA Trainer, Adult Residential Facility (ARF) Certification, Ukeru Trainer Certification.
Must complete fingerprint clearance (Livescan) and a health screening, including a tuberculosis test, required prior to employment.
Ability to stand, sit, bend, lift, climb, stoop, kneel, and move intermittently. Must be able to frequently lift/move up to 50 lbs, and occasionally lift more than 50 lbs.
Valid driver's license and proof of current automobile insurance.
