Job description

HPE Networking Proof of Concept Consultant

This hybrid role requires approximately 2 days per week onsite at an HPE office, with extensive travel and direct customer engagement. The consultant will design, build, and run Proof of Concept (PoC) engagements to validate HPE Networking solutions across campus, branch, wireless, SDโ€‘Branch, and edge use cases.

Responsibilities
  • Execute complex PoC engagements during the sales cycle.
  • Gather technical requirements from customers and account teams, translating business outcomes into testable success criteria.
  • Define quantitative success metrics and create detailed, scenarioโ€‘driven test plans covering wired, wireless, security, and management platform capabilities.
  • Collaborate with PLM, Dev/R&D, QA, and TME teams to validate and refine test plans before execution.
  • Investigate and optimise technical solutions to meet or exceed opportunity requirements, including scalability and futureโ€‘proofing.
  • Identify growth paths, scalability options, and architectural best practices, incorporating them into solution design activities.
  • Anticipate and mitigate potential challenges within proposed test plans.
  • Differentiated HPE Networking above the competition by highlighting competitive advantages across campus, branch, and edge scenarios.
  • Represent HPE Networking as a subjectโ€‘matter expert to customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Support account teams with solution guidance, proposals, presentations, and customer communications.
  • Transfer knowledge to presales peers through mentoring, peer education programmes, and structured enablement sessions.
  • Stay current on industry trends, competitor positioning, and emerging technologies such as AIOps, SASE, Wiโ€‘Fi 7, Zero Trust, and NaaS.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 5+ years of industry experience with a Bachelorโ€™s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent handsโ€‘on experience.
  • Deep, comprehensive understanding of networking technology with rapid knowledge acquisition of HPE Networking products.
  • Proven experience evaluating and benchmarking networking equipment in competitive scenarios.
  • Strong knowledge of LAN and WLAN protocols, including switching, routing, and security.
  • Industry certifications (ACMX, CCIE, CWNP, JNCIP, JNCIA, or equivalent) are beneficial.
  • Expertise in wireless technologies (Wiโ€‘Fi 6E/7, 802.11ax/be, RF spectrum analysis, MIMO/MUโ€‘MIMO, wireless security).
  • Proficiency in networking technologies and protocols: VLANs, DHCP, multicast, L2/L3 forwarding, link aggregation, spanning tree, EVPNโ€‘VXLAN, OSPF, BGP, VXLAN, MPLS, VRF, route policies, SDโ€‘WAN, 802.1X, NAC, RADIUS, TACACS+, ACLs, microโ€‘segmentation, Zero Trust.
  • Familiarity with modern network management and AIOps platforms (e.g., Aruba Central, NetConductor).
  • Outstanding communication skills, ability to deliver technical presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Experience driving projects within crossโ€‘functional teams and managing multiple parallel engagements to deadline.
  • Extensive travel ability โ€“ willing to travel โ‰ฅ50% within the AMS region.
Additional Beneficial Experience
  • Experience with HPE Networking (Aruba) and Juniper technologies.
  • Previous role within HPE Networking or a related technical position.
