Job description

R&D Electrical Engineer
Description -
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to design next-generation industrial presses based on HP's inkjet technology.
HP PageWide Industrial is a division of HP that develops industrial printing solutions built on HP Scalable PageWide Printing Technology. We have revolutionized the digital web press industry by offering full-color, variable data printing at unprecedented speeds and media widths. You will be an integral part of a fast-paced R&D team responsible for the entire electrical design of these presses, from the power and controls through the PCB components of the digital image pipeline.

This role involves designing electrical power and controls subsystems to meet design, safety, and regulatory requirements, then taking them from prototyping to manufacturing. The ideal candidate combines strong hands-on engineering capability with effective technical leadership and clear communication.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary Electrical Engineer for new press module design projects, partnering with Mechanical Engineers and Industrial Controls Engineers. Make design decisions, recommend and specify component selection, and create bills of materials.

  • Design and lead the assembly of functional test equipment to assist our manufacturers in validating press modules.
  • Address component end-of-life and assurance-of-supply issues by selecting and qualifying alternate components, and following change management processes to implement design changes.
  • Provide R&D support for manufacturing and field issues.
  • Develop deep expertise in PWI's image pipeline electronics, signal flow, and overall press architecture.

In addition, the broad responsibilities of our R&D electrical architecture team provide opportunities to develop or apply skills in other areas such as PCB design and diagnostics code development.
Education & Experience Recommended
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, ECE, or related subject.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience developing industrial machinery or similar designs from concept to production.
  • Demonstrated track record of taking designs from concept through prototyping to manufacturing.
