Clearance: Active DoD Secret clearance required to start

Location/Flexibility:ย Remote with occasional travel to the DC metro area.

Responsibilities:ย 

As a Software Developer, you will:

  • Participate in Agile software development processes to support ongoing updates and enhancements to the Enterprise Military Housing system.
  • Assist in gathering and analyzing user requirements from various DoD service branches through formal Change Management processes.
  • Contribute to the design, development, testing, and integration of software modules.
  • Perform debugging, configuration, and maintenance of software products.
  • Support operational integration and provide user support as needed.
  • Collaborate with other developers and system support teams to resolve technical issues and improve system performance.
  • Assist in code reviews and documentation to ensure maintainability and compliance with DoD standards.
  • Help evaluate system performance and support capacity planning and hardware/software upgrades.

Qualifications:

  • Education: BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent professional/educational experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of relevant software development experience
  • Certifications: Active CompTIA Security+ or equivalent DoD 8140-compliant certification.
  • Experience with Java OOP design to build MVC applications that interact with a relational database via JPA/Hibernate and JPQL.
  • Able to interpret/understand and modify/create data in a relational database via an SQL editor/developer.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
  • Proficient with Git and at least one of the following: Maven, Ant, and Gradle.
  • Experience advancing code to a CI/CD Pipeline or build server, such as Jenkins.
  • Experience using enterprise technologies and standards to include: J2EE, JSP, Servlets, Hibernate, EJB, XML, and application servers (e.g., JBoss).
  • Knowledge of secure coding practices and DoD cybersecurity requirements.
  • Ability to prioritize effective communication, problem-solving, adaptability, and teamwork while contributing and collaborating within a cross-functional team.

ย Desired Skills:

  • Experience with Google Web Toolkit (GWT) or equivalent Java-based client-side framework.
  • Experience with HTML, XML, CSS, JavaScript, and JavaScript libraries (e.g., jQuery, React, Angular).
  • Experience debugging Client and Server, Java, and JavaScript
  • Experience with reporting tools (Jaspersoft, Crystal Reports, JReports).
  • Experience with software testing and test automation, including unit testing frameworks such as JUnit, code coverage tools like JaCoCo, and application security analysis tools such as Fortify.
  • Experience with additional programming languages (Python, PHP, C, Pro *C, etc.)

Physical Requirements:ย 

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 10-15 pounds at time.
