Messer Construction is seeking a motivated and personable Risk Analyst to join our Risk Management team. This role is ideal for a recent college graduate or an individual with up to several years of professional experience who is interested in developing a career in construction risk management.

The Risk Analyst partners with project teams, regional operations leaders, insurance partners, and other internal stakeholders to identify, evaluate, and mitigate contractual, financial, operational, and safety-related risks. The position supports subcontractor prequalification, insurance program administration, claims management, and data-driven risk analysis while gaining exposure to all aspects of enterprise risk management within a construction environment.

Responsibilities

Risk Analysis & Project Support

  • Assist with the evaluation of project-specific contractual, operational, financial, and insurance-related risks.
  • Support project teams during pursuit, bidding, and project execution by identifying risk exposures and recommending mitigation strategies.
  • Analyze data, trends, and reports to identify risk concerns and support decision-making.
  • Participate in strategic risk management initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.

Subcontractor Prequalification

  • Administer and monitor the subcontractor prequalification process.
  • Review contractor financial, operational, and safety information to assess qualifications and capacity.
  • Track prequalification activities, manage workflow tasks, and follow up on outstanding requirements.
  • Assist in developing risk mitigation recommendations for subcontractors presenting elevated risk profiles.

Insurance Program Administration

  • Support the administration of Contractor Controlled Insurance Programs (CCIP), Subcontractor Default Insurance (SDI), Builder's Risk, and other corporate insurance programs.
  • Assist with project enrollments, compliance monitoring, reporting, premium tracking, and documentation management.
  • Coordinate with project teams, brokers, carriers, and third-party administrators to ensure program requirements are met.
  • Help prepare program reporting, forecasting, and performance analyses for the Line of Business Manager. 

Claims & Incident Management

  • Assist with incident intake, claim reporting, investigations, and claim documentation.
  • Coordinate with project teams, insurance carriers, brokers, and other stakeholders to gather information and support claim resolution.
  • Maintain accurate claim records and reporting within risk management systems.
  • Support trend analysis and reporting designed to reduce future losses and improve project outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business, Insurance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • CRIS Designation not required but preferred.
  • Internship, co-op, or up to 3 years of relevant professional experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to review and interpret contracts, insurance policies, financial statements, and business documents.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with Origami, Power BI, Viewpoint is a plus.
  • Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated curiosity, initiative, and desire to learn and grow within a professional risk management environment.
