Job Summary:
The Department of Radiology at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking an hourly/per diem TH Medical Radiographer 1 / CT/MRI Technologist. The successful candidate will:
  • Be a NYS licensed radiological technologist with DOH injection certification required to perform MRI and CT exams.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform all MRI and CT procedures with established protocols, without direct supervision.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform Interventional Radiology procedures.
  • Demonstrate the ability to provide assistance to external and internal costumers, and provide excellent customer service.
  • Be responsible for patient care while performing imaging, to include accuracy of patient identification/correct procedure/correct laterality.
  • Be able to deal with emergent situations and coordinate work schedules to facilitate patient procedures.
  • Maintain conditions in MRI and CT area which foster an environment focused on patient safety.
  • Maintain principle of ALARA.
  • Have prior experience with computerized patient information systems, including Radiology Information Systems and PACS.
  • Complete all exams immediately in RIS and verify on PACS.
  • Burn CD's and DVD's when necessary.
  • Have scheduling flexibility as hours may change on as needed basis according to departmental operating needs.
  • Adhere to all SUNY Downstate Medical Center and department policies and procedures, to include principle of behavior.
  • Responsible for maintaining supplies and checking for expired items on a monthly basis.
  • Responsible for maintaining all patient related logs (i.e. pt. incidents/CTDI vol./Infiltrates/etc.)
  • Perform daily/weekly/monthly QA on MRI and CT equipment and document such.
  • Responsible for informing supervisor when equipment is off line including contacting service and recording the service ticket number.
  • Attend all department sponsored In-services relative to MRI, CT, IR, and departmental issues.
  • Maintain a courteous and pleasant disposition with patients.
  • Adhere to time and attendance policies.
  • Perform other tasks as required.

Required Qualifications:
  • New York State Radiology Technologist Licensure required to perform MRI and CT exams.
  • ARRT certified.
  • Current BLSC certification.
  • Experience in diagnostic Interventional Radiology procedure.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • AART certified in MRI, CT or IR.
  • DOH injection certified.
  • 2+ years of experience in all diagnostic MRI, CT, or IR radiology procedures in a hospital setting.
