Overview

SCCI is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join our dynamic team! The successful Candidate will have a focus in Java. In this position, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining a Java code base in support of U.S. Navy Weapon Systems. This position is available for immediate hire and is located in Dahlgren, VA.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide Software Engineering technical support
  • Support software engineering code – design reviews
  • Perform requirements assessments and requirements decomposition
  • Code to model system behavior through functional flows and functional descriptions
  • Support the development of software engineering presentations and reports
  • Demonstrate understanding of technical aspects required to develop large complex software-intensive systems
  • Develop software using pair programming and swarming techniques under Agile Process
  • Write unit tests for Java and/or C++ user interfaces

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain an active Secret Security Clearance
  • A Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline; Or four (4) years of experience in lieu of degree
  • Two (2) years of experience with Navy or Joint systems; Demonstrates understanding of technical aspects required to develop large complex software intensive systems
  • Proficient in software development using at least two (2) of the following:
  • Windows
  • Various Linux distributions (e.g. Red Hat/Red Hawk)
  • C/C++
  • Java
