We count on our reliability engineers to maintain all aspects of our eCommerce/Retail services to be highly available, reliable & have an ever-watchful eye on systems overall health. We are looking for someone who brings fresh ideas, demonstrates a unique and informed viewpoint, and enjoys collaborating with a cross-functional team to develop real-world solutions and positive user experiences at every interaction.

Responsibilities

  • Own and improve tooling for best of the class large-scale platform solutions to help build modern software systems.
  • Developing front end website architecture.
  • Designing user interactions on web pages.
  • Developing back-end services.
  • Creating servers and databases for functionality.
  • Working alongside UI designers for web design features.
  • Seeing through a project from conception to finished product.
  • Designing and developing APIs.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to identify gaps & build solutions to improve the overall observability of Walmarts e-commerce/Retail and Enterprise products.
  • Define, drive adoption, and enforcement of service level objectives at both service and experience levels.
  • Influence, design, and create new architectures, standards, methods, and best practices for systems.
  • Identifying risks and forming contingency plans as soon as possible.
  • Being transparent with the team about challenges, failures, and successes.
  • Participate in system design consulting, code reviews, platform management, and capacity planning.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in computer science or similar.
  • Minimum 5 + years of experience in software engineering doing frontend & backend development.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Proficiency with fundamental front-end languages such as React JS (preferred), HTML and JavaScript.
  • Proficiency with server-side languages such as Node.js (preferred), Java, Python etc.
  • Experience with modern observability/monitoring systems such as ELK, Splunk, Nagios, Dynatrace, Datadog.
  • Familiarity with database technology such as MySQL, Azure Cosmos etc.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to work with large development teams.
