Missile Defense Software Engineer, Lead

The Opportunity:

As a full stack developer, you can resolve a problem with a complete end-to-end solution in a fast, agile environment. If you're looking for the chance to not just develop software, but to create a system that will make a difference, we need you on our team. We're looking for a seasoned developer and leader like you with the expertise needed to build software and systems from vision to production ready.

This role is more than just coding. As a lead full stack developer at Booz Allen, you'll lead a team as they learn new tools and techniques and identify needed system improvements. You'll help develop software-enabled products and help overcome our most difficult challenges using the latest architectural approaches, tools, and technologies. You'll make sure the solution developed by the team considers the current architecture and operating environment, as well as future functionality and enhancements.

You Have:

  • 10+ years of experience with space, missile defense, or missile warning systems software development

  • 3+ years of experience providing technical leadership for a software development team and mentoring and supervising employees within a collaborative team environment to help them grow

  • Experience with weapon system requirements, design, and performance analysis for features such as engageability, interceptability, or lethality

  • Experience designing, developing, and deploying mission-critical tactical software in Rust or C++ for real-time edge environments, ensuring low latency, memory safety, and high availability

  • Experience with DevOps principles, including automated CI/CD pipelines, configuration management, infrastructure automation, and cloud monitoring technologies

  • Experience performing technical reviews of complex systems

  • Knowledge of systems architecture, requirements management, and technical baseline management

  • Ability to effectively communicate, work independently and collaboratively on a cross-functional team, and demonstrate initiative to complete complex tasks to achieve program goals in a fast-paced environment

  • Secret clearance

  • Bachelor's degree

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with strategic and operational-level missile defense planning, employment, and concepts of operations

  • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins

  • Experience with embedded programming and scripting languages such as Rust, C, C++, Python, Java, or JavaScript

  • Experience developing software within an Agile framework and DevSecOps infrastructure as part of a CI/CD pipeline

  • Experience designing the architecture and containerized services with Kubernetes

  • Knowledge of Systems Modeling Language (SysML), DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF), and Unified Architecture Framework (UAF)

  • TS/SCI clearance

  • Master's degree

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $112,800.00 to $257,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
