Job Title: Software Engineer - Senior
Location: Hybrid - Arlington Va

SUMMARY
We are seeking a versatile and motivated Software Engineer with 3-5 years of experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in data management and a passion for developing robust software solutions. This role is responsible for the full lifecycle of software development, from designing and implementing data pipelines and ETL processes to building web applications and automating business processes. You will play a crucial part in completing the services, tools, and initiatives that enhance our data-driven decision-making capabilities. This position requires a proactive individual who can manage version control and thrive in an Agile environment.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop and maintain data engineering services, including data migration, integration, pipeline management, and data quality management.
• Create custom, performant SQL functions to join disparate data sources and aggregate data for holistic reporting.
• Provide technical support for Business Intelligence platforms, including Power BI and Tableau, focusing on permissions, performance, and the use of authoritative data sources.
• Define desired data states and implement scripts and processes to perform data cleansing, ensuring the reliability of data for analytics.
• Engage in web development activities using technologies such as React.js, Java, HTML, and CSS to support supplemental development services.
• Design, build, and manage applications and workflows using the Microsoft Power Platform (PowerApps, Power Automate).
• Utilize Git and GitLab for source code management, including branching, merging, and maintaining version control.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver technical solutions that meet the needs of our program officers and leadership.
• Support the implementation and enforcement of data governance policies and best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Certifications
• Agile Scrum Certification (e.g., CSM, PSM)
Education, Background, and Years of Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred.
• 3-5 years of professional experience in a software engineering or data management role.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Required Skills
• Advanced SQL: Proficiency in writing complex queries, stored procedures, and custom functions (e.g., PL/SQL).
• Data Engineering & ETL: Strong experience in designing and implementing ETL processes, data integration, and pipeline management.
• Web Development: Solid skills in React.js, Java, HTML, and CSS for building and maintaining web applications.
• Microsoft Power Platform: Experience or willingness to develop solutions with PowerApps and Power Automate.
• BI Platform Support: Demonstrable experience supporting and optimizing BI solutions in Power BI and/or Tableau.
• Git/GitLab: Proficient in using Git and GitLab for version control and collaborative development.
• Data Quality: Experience with data quality assessment, data cleansing techniques, and scripting.
Preferred Skills
• Data Governance: Familiarity with data governance principles and experience in a data stewardship role.
• Enterprise Platform Familiarity: Experience with enterprise application platforms (e.g., Pega) for data extraction is a plus.
• Additional Tooling: Knowledge of SharePoint Online, Cognos, APEX, and Sparx EA.
