Job description

POSITION Farm & Event Assistant Position

DEPARTMENT Farm & Arena

SUPERVISOR/CHAIN OF COMMAND: Farm/Arena/Equine Therapy and Events Coordinator

WORKING SCHEDULE: Hourly, Monday-Friday 8-5:00 with weekends during events as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Minimum requirements – High School Diploma

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

    • Prefer 3-5 years’ successful work experience
    • Experience with safely and efficiently operating small and large equipment such as UTV’s and tractors with attachments

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Pick up and carry a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Work some weekends during events as assigned
  • Safely work around livestock and have awareness and knowledge of their behavior

Background investigation required. Must provide Human Resources with a written negative drug screening test prior to hiring.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS & ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in maintenance and upkeep of grounds associated with the arena, pastures and equine area which may include but not limited to bushhogging, mowing, weed eating, and grounds clean up.
  • Maintenance of show barns, run-in sheds, arena, equine area, hay barn and the red barn which may include but not limited to board repair/replacements, fence and gate repairs and waterline repairs.
  • Assist with animal care that will include but not limited to unloading feed deliveries, filling feed barrels weekly, receiving hay deliveries and stacking, and setting hay out to appropriate fields as assigned in the winter months.
  • Trash and debris removal around arena, equine area, and pastures.
  • Assist in the care and minor maintenance of all farm equipment/vehicles
  • Assist in exhibition center and any farm or related events which include event preparation, event operations, and event clean up
  • Other duties assigned by the Farm/Arena/Equine Therapy and Events Coordinator
